The Shire welcomes Benny’s, a new coastal dining destination in Cronulla, led by Hatted Chef RJ Lines.
We all know how much we love Cronulla—not just for the beach vibes on a summer’s day, but also for the amazing dining scene. After welcoming Bobby’s, serving Mediterranean delights by the coast, we’re now excited to introduce Benny’s.
Located on Tonkin Street, right next to the beloved Waterline By The Bay, Benny’s is the latest addition to Cronulla’s waterfront. Offering a fresh twist on Mediterranean and Australian cuisine, it brings those endless summer feels year-round. Even better? It’s just a short walk from Cronulla station, making it easy to hop on a train from the city and explore the beauty of the south coast.
Helmed by Hatted Chef RJ Lines (formerly of One Penny Red), Benny’s menu is a tribute to fresh, seasonal produce. Their commitment to sustainability is clear, with ingredients sourced from local farmers and fishermen—think Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio and shucked-to-order Sydney Rock Oysters with a zesty finger lime dressing.
A standout on the menu is the “Barra In A Bag”—a QLD Barramundi fillet baked with clams and cherry tomatoes to seal in all the flavour. While seafood steals the spotlight, meat lovers won’t be left out, with top-tier cuts like Jacks Creek Rib Eye and Rangers Valley MBS6+ Sirloin also on offer.
Benny’s also offers a takeaway menu, perfect for a laid-back beachside feast. Grab some crispy beer-battered fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce to enjoy on the go. Or, cool off on the nearby grass patch with one of their refreshing gelato bars or classic ice cream cones.
Inside, Benny’s features emerald green tiles, sandstone columns, and brass accents, creating a breezy Mediterranean vibe. The stunning coastal views are the cherry on top.
Open from Wednesday to Sunday, noon to late. Find out more here.
