Potts Point Welcomes Teddy By The Ezra Team

Eat / 21 August 2024

The team behind the beloved Middle-Eastern eatery, Ezra is back with a second venture.

Teddy, a modern Australian bistro is a welcome addition to Kings Cross’ flourishing restaurant scene. Situated right next door to its renowned sister restaurant, Ezra, Teddy has taken over the former Raja site.

Teddy aspires to offer a familiar dining experience and become Kings Cross’ go-to for affordable comfort food. Co-owners Nick and Kirk Mathews-Bowden have again teamed up with acclaimed chef Ben Sears to reinvent classic Australian dishes. Head Chef Nicole Coelho, also brings a distinctive flair to the menu. “I believe there’s a real power to be found in nostalgic food, especially in uncertain times like these,” says co-owner Nick Mathews-Bowden. “We want Teddy to be a place where people can relax and enjoy affordable, accessible, and approachable food.” The menu features a selection of shareable snacks, including the drool-worthy “Royale with Cheese” – steak tartare with smoked cheddar, and classic mains like roast swordfish with bush tomato and capers. To finish, diners can satisfy their sweet tooth with Teddy’s playful take on an île flottante (meringue floating on crème anglais) or a “Teddy’s chocolate orange” – need we say more?

Available to everyone!* Happy Hour runs daily from 4-6pm and all day Sunday, offering delicious snacks under $10 and cocktails and wines for just $10.

Ella Stening curated Teddy’s admirable wine list, which is predominantly Australian with some international favourites for those who are feeling adventurous. Similar to Ezra, Teddy’s playlist will be a jukebox of 80s hits alongside retro-faves everyone loves. The interior has been designed by NYC-based restaurant designer Rosie Rainbow, and with her husband Christopher Rizzo on branding – Teddy promises to be nothing short of aesthetic, cosy and unforgettable.
