Experience Sekka Dining, a ramen-meets-izakaya joint from one of Sydney’s best ramen chefs.
If you had the pleasure of visiting Ramen Ichibandori in Neutral Bay, you’ll be well acquainted with Chef Hideto Suzuki’s delicious eats. The beloved ramen spot closed its doors back in March and the team has been on the hunt for a new spot for their latest venue ever since. And now, we’re delighted to hear about their new ramen-meets-izakaya joint, Sekka Dining.
Finding its home in the heart of St Leonards, Sekka Dining is a venue inspired by Suzuki’s Japanese hometown in the Akita prefecture (up in the mountains in the north of Japan). At the moment, the restaurant is offering ramen and izakaya-style snacks, with plans to transition and evolve their offering to include yakitori and a full dinner menu as well.
Like so many venues, the team behind Sekka Dining is treading carefully during 2020. With so much uncertainty in the restaurant industry, Sekka Dining’s original concept has been put on hold, serving up a simple ramen and izakaya offering available now until the team is more confident to launch a daring restaurant menu in the months ahead. Even the original interior design of the venue has been put on hold until the owners are more confident with the outlook for their new venue.
So, what can you expect on the menu at Sekka Dining? The current soft-launch menu offerings a range of starts and ramen dishes to satisfy your Japanese cravings. Kick-off with a plate of pork gyoza, karaage chicken or bluefin tuna served with house soy, organic egg york, shiso and olive oil. For mains, choose between a lighter chintan broth ramen or opt for a thick paitan broth ramen, loaded with pork, black garlic tonkatsu and even vegan-friendly tomato ramen on the menu.
As for drinks, expect everything from beers to highball cocktails as well as selection of sake, shochu and wines on the menu.
