Meet Marble, the new Izakaya meets Korean BBQ joint from the team behind Surry Hills’ Tokki.
It seems like a lifetime ago, but it was just earlier this year that Surry Hills welcomed the fun new dining spot, Tokki. Set on Foveaux Street and drenched in a pink neon glow, this casual new izakaya brought together two of our favourite cuisines: Japanese and Korean eats. It’s proved a popular combo with Sydney diners as well, which is why the owners have decided to open a new venue dedicated to these delicious flavours in the CBD.
Meet Marble BBQ, Tokki’s new sister venue uniting the best of Japanese and Korean dishes. This new spot takes inspiration from the izakayas of Tokyo and the hustling Korean BBQs Seoul is famous for, creating a fun, new dining destination in the heart of Barangaroo.
Marble BBQ is the brainchild of owner David Bae and restaurant manager David Ashby, giving diners the best of fine-dining culinary techniques in a relaxed, casual setting. The dining room (designed by Studio MKZ) combines inspiring timber accents with sleek concrete finishes to create a warm and inviting dining room.
In the kitchen at Marble you’ll find chef Jacob Lee (ex-Sokyo) and a team of creative culinary talent, crafting a menu of daring eats. Expect snack-style starters such as pork belly bao and truffle wagyu tartare, a raw bar menu offering everything from Hiramasa kingfish to Pacific oysters as well as larger mains of smokey duck breast, whole flounder and miso lamb rack.
Want to let the chefs work their magic? Opt for the ‘Feed Me’ set menu ($85 per person for a min of 2 people), serving up a curated banquet of Marble’s best dishes (with the option to add on a paired drinks package for an addition $65 per person).
Like every great izakaya, Marble’s drinks menu has plenty to explore (with the wine list curated by David Ashby and cocktails by TK Moyo). Expect curated cocktails infused with Japanese and Korean flavours along with a stellar wine, beer, cider and spirits selection.
Marble BBQ is open now at Tower 1, 100 Barangaroo Avenue, Barangaroo, open Tues to Thur 5pm to 10:30pm and Fri to Sat from 5pm to 11:30pm. To find out more and book your spot, click here.
