Melbourne’s biggest rooftop playground is officially here.
Party like a kid again at Summertime Social, the newest bar playground set to transform Federation Square’s Skyline Terrace. The retro bar, which will run until April 2020, will offer nostalgic lane games alongside luxe caravans and a huge communal lawn for every fun seeking Melbournian.
If you’re in the mood to play, you can take a pick from classic lane games such as bocce, skittles and shuffleboard (all custom built just for Summertime Social!), and battle it out for bragging rights amongst your friendship group. Each lane game can be pre-booked for 2-6 players in advance, or you can simply rock up and take advantage of the free lawn games like Giant Jenga scattered around the bar.
The grassy area is the perfect spot to kick back and relax whilst taking in the summertime vibes on the rooftop. If you’re heading with a big group, pre-order a delicious picnic basket to share. A classic basket gets you a grazing cheese and ploughman’s box, party pies, Dirty Birdie chicken tenders, summer slaw and nana’s famous potato salad. If you’re feeling boujee, you can upgrade to the Lil Bit Fancy box which includes lobster rolls and ice cream tokens. There are also veggie options available.
Grab summer inspired refreshments with cocktails rotated daily and alcoholic slushies – Mango Daiquiri or Margarita. Passionfruit Caprioska, Miami Iced Tea, and Aperol Spritz are all on tap plus beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Weekday happy hour is between 4-6pm with $6 tap cocktails, Furphy beer, rosé and prosecco.
On weekends, the communal lawn transforms into a musical spectacular. On Fridays and Saturdays you can enjoy DJ beats from 5-10pm and an acoustic soloist on Sundays from 1-4pm. Summertime Social also plays host to the Battle of the Giant Games from 1-5pm on Sundays, with live music and prizes for the winners.
