Winter in Sydney is always synonymous with delicious truffles, known for their bold flavour and intense aroma. These gems add a touch of luxury to any dish, and when paired with Sydney’s vibrant dining scene, become a favourite activity for foodies in the colder months. We’ve rounded up a guide on some of the best truffle dinners around the city – from fine dining restaurants to cosy hidden gems and everything else in between.

The Fenwick, Balmain

The Fenwick team are bringing truffles to the front stage for 4 dates across winter, where you can enjoy a specially curated three course dinner designed by Chef Alessandro Intini. With each dinner comes a new menu, but diners can expect hearty mains like Confit lamb shoulder with cauliflower & truffle, Beef Cheeks with truffle mash, and duck breast with sweet potato & truffle jus. There’ll also be a bespoke cocktail list with truffle-infused gin available.

Civico 47, Paddington

The corner terrace of Civico 47 is no stranger to homely Italian comfort meals, but this time they’re pulling out the showstoppers with their annual Truffle Dinner alongside Truffle Hill Farm & Verduno. Executive Chef Matteo Zamboni has curated an epic 4-course truffle menu that brings out the absolute best of Italian cuisine, perfectly paired with truffle flavours. Dishes include scallops with black truffle and Roasted dry aged duck breast with a truffle sauce drizzled on top.

Ripples Chowder Bay, Mosman

Rippes Head Chef Calvin Katz has crafted a unique three-course menu for every truffle dinner, highlighting the unique flavours and texture of black truffles. Each event will feature a fresh and distinct menu, with dishes such as Braised cauliflower with truffle cream, Beef tenderloin and Almond cake with almond paste and truffle. The team have also curated a special cocktail selection featuring Truffle Mad, a truffle-infused Gin.

Chiswick, Woollahra

Chiswick are really embracing winter warmers, as they roll out truffles into special menu items and prepare for their popular annual truffle dinner in collaboration with The Truffle Farm Canberra. It’s a shared-style truffle menu alongside wines included from Mount Majura Vineyard. Highlights include Kingfish tartlet with truffle ponzu, Duck liver parfait éclair with shaved truffle, Truffle brioche stuffed chicken, and Truffle custard tart with creamy Messina jersey milk. A handful of these dishes will also be available as limited-time specials, so you can order and enjoy them all throughout winter.

Infinity, Sydney Tower

Feast on a truffle degustation dinner whilst enjoying incredible revolving views of Sydney. Infinity are celebrating the black truffle with an exclusive 6-course menu, with dishes that include Bass Strait scallops with truffle infused winter vegetables; glazed Wagyu beef cheek with truffle polenta; and warm infused apple with truffle crumble, blueberry, and black truffle ice cream. Rocker, Bondi

Cementing itself as Bondi’s neighbourhood cafe, restaurant and bar, Rocker is a casual no-frills joint serving up delicious food any time of day. Their winter dinner series takes place across four evenings, with 5 sharing-style courses of truffle extravaganza. Be treated to a modern take on truffle, including wagyu beef tartare, truffle mayo and shoestring fries on arrival, and truffle glazed parker rolls. You’ll also get to sample burrata and truffle salami (with an extra topping of freshly shaved truffle). End your night with house made truffled Basque cheesecake, alongside a generous pouring of truffle honey for dessert. Truffles at Rocker are sourced from Manjimup, Western Australia – one of the most prolific truffle growing regions.

Frenchies Bistro, Rosebery

Enjoy French food with a twist as the team from Frenchies rolls out a five-course truffle degustation experience to enjoy over two nights. Each dish will feature a generous serving of truffles, infused into dishes or freshly shaved on top. Start with truffle stuffed globe artichoke and truffle-infused egg soldiers before moving onto substantial mains like truffle marinated and cured duck yolk, and handmade raviolo and truffle bone marrow broth. There’ll also be a matching drink option to pair with your meals featuring Frenchies’ house-made beers, as well as local and international wines.

Sofia, Surry Hills

For one night only, renowned Australian chef, Justin North, will be showcasing a decadent four-course truffle menu featuring boutique ACT producer, Pialligo Truffles, alongside a selection of delicious paired wines. Start off with caramelised onion, seared scallops and truffle all on a mascarpone puff pastry tart then move onto more substantial plates like slow cooked short rib with truffle potato puree and a truffle duck confit risotto. Sommelier, Stephane Pommier has chosen a selection of wines for the pairing that match perfectly with the menu, taking guests through each pairing on the night alongside the dishes.

Salt Meats Cheese

Time to get trufflin at all Salt Meats Cheese locations across Sydney! They’ve created a dedicated menu to the world’s most decadent food, featuring a truffle whipped Ricotta & Proscuitto Crostini, a Cacio e Pepe Pasta tossed in a rich truffle butter sauce as well as a Four-Cheese Lasagne, with truffle infused creamy sauce and savoury mushrooms. You can also indulge in a Truffle Basque Cheesecake (available at Circular Quay and Drummoyne), a creamy combination of a traditional burnt cheesecake with the flavour of truffles.

Noi, Petersham

Indulge in an extraordinary truffle adventure at Noi, happening every Wednesday in July! It’ll be an evening dedicated to truffles, with a four-course menu inspired by the hero ingredient. Start with black angus tartare with buffalo mozzarella, dark malt and truffle before moving onto carbonara filled plin and maremma duck with potato ‘millefoglie’ and truffle. There will also be a vegetarian truffle menu on request.

Ponti, Potts Point

It’s a love affair between wine and truffle at Ponti, with Fabio (head somm) and Aldo (head chef) teaming up once again to highlight the Black Truffle. It’ll be a feast of 6 courses (with matching wines available too), hand picked to bring out the best aroma and taste of the truffles. Start with Kingfish Crudo topped with caviar, Truffle Tagliolini with freshly shaved parmesan and a hearty Truffle Tiramisu to finish off your night.

Aria, Circular Quay

Indulge in pure luxury at Aria’s highly anticipated truffle dinners. It’ll run for 2 months, staying on until the end of the Truffle season. Enjoy a 6-course special menu running alongside their regular tasting menu, with the option of pairing wines to perfectly complement the meal. Start with Raw Abrolhos Island scallops with turnip, truffle & macadamia as well as W.A. black marron with potato, truffle & hollandaise. Pilu, Freshwater

Inspired by the flavours, lifestyle and coastline of Sardinia, Pilu is marrying its Mediterranean influences with the depths of truffle for their Annual Truffle Dinner. They’ll be spotlighting truffles from two different Australian regions, highlighting the change in taste and diversity in which the truffle grows. Enjoy a 5-course menu with bread and snacks on arrival, including delicious dishes like Black Marron toast with Spinach and Tarragon Butter Sauce, Gnocchi Ripieni with TAS Black Truffle and Chris Bolton’s Coral Trout, with WA Black Truffle Terrina.

Cirrus, Barangaroo

Cirrus’ annual truffle dinner is making a return, featuring premium seasonal produce alongside David Coomer’s rare black winter truffles. Coomer Truffles are sourced from between the Jarrah and Karri forests east of Margaret River, and are often referred to as “black diamonds”. Highlights on the menu include grilled bread with truffle taramasalata and potato dauphinoise with parmesan truffle custard. There will also be an optional wine pairing on the night, personally selected by Nick Hildebrandt.

Devon Cafe, Barangaroo

Want a casual truffle experience that won’t set you back a fortune? Devon Cafe have curated their exclusive truffle menu for the season, available up until the end of August. It’s a whole extravaganza, with the highlight being Truffle Mie Goreng: fresh egg noodles, mushrooms, chicharron, cep puree, 63′ egg and truffle. There’s also Truffle French Toast Katsu, Hervey Bay Scallop cooked with truffle and butter, a Truffle Egg Sando as well as a truffle add on to their Wagyu Katsu Sando. For those with a sweet tooth, two truffle desserts will also be on the menu: a truffle sundae and truffle soft serve, served with hot chips.

Lana, Sydney

Located on the first floor of Hinchcliff House, Lana is showcasing the best truffles across WA and the local Canberra region for one night only on Tuesday 11 July. Treat yourself to dishes curated by Head Chef Alex Wong and Sean Yoon, with highlights including Wagyu carpaccio with shaved bonito, black fungus and truffle, charcoal ravioli with pumpkin, spanner crab, truffle and egg yolk and to finish, “Monte Bianco” – a truffle cream revelation with mascarpone, chestnut and honeycomb.
