New Opening: Meet Sammy Junior, The New Espresso And Cocktail Bar Sibling Of Maybe Sammy

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 23 March 2021

Cocktail lovers, we have some big news about one of our favourite bars, Maybe Sammy.

Sydney, we have some exciting news. The crew from Maybe Sammy is swinging open the doors to their new espresso and cocktail bar Sammy Junior today on the ground level of 66 King Street in the Sydney CBD.

This highly anticipated new spot will take you from day to night with delicious drinks for all occasions. For the morning coffee crowd, Sammy Junior will be slinging a bespoke Sammy Junior Spiritual Coffee Blend, using a blend of Brazilian, Columbian, and Ethiopian beans.

For those craving a non-coffee option, score small-batch specialty teas from Ms. Cattea, chai from Bespoke Chai, and hot chocolate from Callebaut. All your morning drinks are available in the venue or from their York Street-facing coffee nook.

For brekkie expect to score bites from consultant chef Rob Lechowicz (Blackwood Pantry), available for dine-in or takeaway. Thse include strawberry chia pudding ($12), toasted banana bread with ricotta, honey and cinnamon ($15) and a daily pastry selection from Sonoma Bakery.

For lunch, Sammy Junior will be slinging sandwiches and salads for grab-and-go customers or those wanting to dine-in at their 50-seater venue. Expect a Chicken P.L.A.T (grilled chicken, prosciutto, lettuce, avocado, tomato, and aioli on fresh sourdough – $16), Asian Chop Bowl (lettuce, cabbage, and carrot mixed with edamame, avocado, cucumber, mint, pumpkin seeds and black sesame with an aioli and sesame dressing – $16) and a Tomato & Basil Panini (vine-ripened tomatoes, prosciutto, mozzarella, fresh basil, and aioli – $15).

There are also $2 Sydney Rock oysters available from 3pm every Thursday and Friday plus aperitivo plates of olives, salumi and cheese from 3pm daily.

As you’d expect, Sammy Junior will be serving expertly made cocktails, too. You can score six of their signature mixes as mini cocktails for a delicious lunchtime drink or grab four of their cocktails full-sized and on-tap (including their Coffee Negroni, Martini Australiano, Cascara Fizz and TI Punch Spritz).

They’ll also be serving Nomad Brewing Morning Draught on tap as well as a rotating selection of wines. In keeping with the mini-theme, you will only find half bottles of wine at Sammy Junior. The predominantly European selection includes a handful each of Champagne, white and red and bundles up nostalgic favourites with new-world fun.

Sammy Junior is co-owned by Martin Hudak as well as Maybe Sammy owners, Vince Lombardo, Stefano Catino and Andrea Gualdi, with the venue designed by Architect George Livissianis (Chin Chin Sydney, The Apollo, Cho Cho San, The Dolphin Hotel).

Sammy Junior is now open at 66 King Street. Open Mon to Wed from 7 am to 5 pm and Thur to Fri from 7 am to 10 pm. Find out more here.
