A Potts Point icon has been reborn! Say hello to Penny’s Hotel
The former Hampton Court Hotel has had a facelift and is now operating as Penny’s Hotel – a cosy pub focused on tasty food, traditional cocktails, and a comfortable atmosphere. Following an extensive renovation, the space is now bright and inviting with floor-to-ceiling windows, handmade Spanish tiles, and plush velvet seats.
Head Chef Adam Finlay (ex-Merivale), has crafted an eloquent yet wallet-friendly menu featuring all the classic pub-grub faves like schnitzels and burgers alongside fresh takes like the Chana split chickpea dal and pan-roasted salmon. Grab a leather stool and watch Potts Point go by from the lengthy windows, gather with friends for a post-work drink in a booth, enjoy a meal in the dining area, or catch the game in the sports room.
Share plates like the twice-cooked pork belly bites and falafel bites make a perfect snack, while classics like perfectly cooked potato scallops are perfect for sharing and harkening back to childhood memories. “Traditional potato scallops are one of those ultimate comfort dishes,” says Chef Finlay. “They’re fresh, they’re moreish, but most importantly, they’re best enjoyed when they’re shared.”
With most mains priced at $25 and cocktails at $18, Penny’s Hotel aims to be an affordable option for Potts Pointers and visitors alike. The venue also boasts an extensive wine list, with premium drops available by the glass, alongside enticing weekly specials. If you love to party, Penny’s Hotel evolves into a late-night bar on Friday and Saturday nights, with its 3am license allowing for late-night revelry.
Located at 9-15 Bayswater Rd, Potts Point, Penny’s Hotel is open from 10-3am Monday to Saturday and 10-12am on Sunday.
