The latest all-you-can-eat restaurant

Patrick Bertolleti once ate 9.17 pounds of blueberry pie in nine minutes. Joey Chestnut currently holds the world record for wolfing down 59.5 hotdogs in 12 minutes and Eric Booker’s claim to fame is stuffing his face with 49 glazed doughnuts in just eight minutes! Pizza Autentico in Surry Hills is a new restaurant offering a new all-you-can-eat menu and whilst we’re not suggesting you attempt breaking any world records here you’d have closer to 90-minutes should you wish to try.

So here’s the deal. For $20 Pizza Autentico will serve up all you can eat pizza and pasta for 90 minutes. It’s served to you yum cha style which is a very cool concept and damn cheap for the quality of the food.  The only downside is you need to wait for the roaming wait staff to bring you food every twenty minutes or so and it’s usually one slice at a time. So whilst it’s technically ‘all-you-can-eat’ it’s really ‘all-you-can-eat-in-90-minutes-when-we-decide-to-bring-you-food’. Make sense?

Not that we’re complaining, the produce comes from Salts Meats Cheese and the pancetta and rocket pizza is worth the wait. Perhaps they should focus on getting people through the door based on this alone. With a great selection of Italian vino’s from Tuscany, Venice and Sicily we suggest taking a seat upstairs in the bar, ordering a bottle and settling in. The same roaming pizza concept still stands but at least you don’t feel the pressure of a 90-minute window.
We are yet to hear of any world records being broken at Pizza Autentico. That sound like a challenge? Eat on!
