A Secret Margarita Bar Has Opened Up Behind This New Darlinghurst Sandwich Shop

Bars, Drink, Eat, Sydney / 6 March 2020

The crew from Wings and Tins have just launched Mrs Palmer Sandwich (with a secret margarita bar hidden out the back).

If you needed another reason to swing by Darlinghurst’s thriving Stanley Street, we’ve just found two. For those who’ve come to frequent Chapel Streets’ iconic Wings and Tins (an institution for devouring hot chicken wings and washing it all down with a few tinnies), this new venue will be a welcome arrival. Brought to Sydney by co-owners Anthony MacFarlane and Alfredo Perez, Mrs Palmer Sandwich is a fun new arrival that hopes to elevate the humble sambo (while delivering an exciting new tequila bar out the back).

Out the front of Mrs Palmer, you’ll find a grab-and-go sandwich bar, serving up a simple menu of fresh lunch-friendly sambo options. “Sandwich culture in this city needs to change, “tells MacFarlane. “Sandwiches are the best food on the planet, and shouldn’t be treated as just an ‘easy lunch’ but as the best dang tasty thing you can put in your neck-box.”

At Mrs Palmer, expect hefty loaded sandwiches made with freshly baked bread (hand-cut daily) and designed to give your co-workers serious food envy. “Ours are big. I mean really big. But it’s all about what’s inside, which includes everything from Mexican chilli crispy pork belly or even 8-hour smoked brisket,” tells MacFarlane.

But what the duo are really excited to share is their new margarita bar, tucked away behind the Mrs Palmer daytime facade. Step through the sandwich bar to enter this secret dive bar. Boasting an impressive 25-strong margarita (and growing), the bar is dedicated to all things tequila. On the menu, you’ll find everything from tropical pineapple to coconut-infused margaritas and so much more. If you can imagine it, there guys will have it on their menu.

Plus, as day turns to night the crew will be slinging a selection of bar-style eats including triple cheese toasties, smoked wagyu pastrami toasties plus their unmissable Philly cheesesteak. They’ll also be a selection of snack-style share plates and hot wings from their sister Wings and Tins venue.

Find Mrs Palmer Sandwich at 81 Stanley Street, Darlinghurst, serving sambos from weekdays from 11:30am to 3pm and Saturdays from midday to 2:30pm and the margarita bar from 5:30pm to 11pm Tues to Thur and Fridays midday to 11pm.
