Sydney’s vibrant dining and shopping hub, Market City, is the hottest spot to celebrate 2024’s Moon Festival, one of the most significant events in the Chinese calendar. From 24th August to 22nd September, visitors can engage in the rich traditions and festive atmosphere of this joyous occasion.

The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a time for families and friends to gather and celebrate. It is a tradition steeped in history, symbolising unity, gratitude, and abundance. While it’s believed to have originated in China, the festival has gained popularity across Asia, including in Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, and beyond.

At Market City, visitors can expect a plethora of exciting activities to commemorate the Moon Festival. A highlight of the festivities is Australia’s Largest Mooncake Sale, where guests can enjoy a wide selection of traditional mooncakes with different flavours and fillings.

In addition to the mooncake sale, Market City will also host a series of cultural events; The Jin Wu Koon’s High Pole Lion Dance will be a captivating spectacle, featuring acrobats performing intricate lion dances on 3-meter-high poles. For those interested in learning more about Chinese culture, Madam Tot’s Traditional Chinese Art Workshops will offer drawing and painting sessions for adults and children.

Market City will be adorned with beautiful Moon Festival decorations throughout the celebrations, including custom perspex clouds, a towering 3-meter 3D moon, and colourful lanterns.
