The Mexican food scene is quite competitive in Sydney and a restaurant that has set the bar high is Mejico. Nestled in the heart of the CBD, it’s your go-to spot for table-smashed guacamole, spicy corn ribs and a zesty margarita to match. Adding to their repertoire, the team is about to open the doors to Mejico Fish Market, a brand new waterside dining experience on Campbell Parade in Bondi Beach.
Owner Sam Prince and his team have a wealth of hospitality experience under their aprons with restaurants Mejico, INDU and Kid Kyoto across Sydney and Melbourne. Mejico Fish Market will be a more casual, relaxing dining experience to suit the Bondi lifestyle. Expect to see a line out the door of salty locals seeking relief from the Aussie heat and surfers looking for a post-surf feed.
All dishes are in the theme of Latin American cuisine while combining the group’s passion for fresh and healthy Mexican food. The menu is ever-evolving as the chefs showcase the best local produce and sustainable Australian seafood sourced from their fishmonger each week. Ceviche Bowls are the star of the menu with options including the Bondi Bowl with Mooloolaba Swordfish, Aji Amarillo, Lime Dressing, Tomato & Caper Salsa, Jicama and Corn Salsa, Greens, Grains and Spiced Pistachio Dukkah. You’ll also find a Fresh Fish Burrito made with grilled market-fresh, Zesty Lime Rice, Turtle Beans, Lettuce, Corn and Jicama Salsa and Mejico’s Hibiscus Hot Sauce. There will also be Mejico signatures including Table-Smashed Guacamole, Plantain Chips and Corn Ribs with Chilli, Lime, Miso and Crispy Onions. This is all available for dine-in and takeaway.
The venue reflects Owner Sam Prince’s fond travels down the Baja coast of Mexico. He appreciated how diners could perch up at the bar and capture the chefs in their element preparing their diners fresh seafood dishes. With bright handpainted murals on the walls and a distinctive 90’s indie playlist, the 40-seater venue is set to be Bondi’s favourite lunch spot this summer.
Mejico Fish Market is open from Friday 12th of November 2021, Monday – Sunday from 12pm. Walk-in only venue.
