Esteemed Icon, Longrain, Is Popping Back Up In Sydney

Drink, Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 8 July 2024

In partnership with Four Pillars Gin for two nights only.

Once a beloved institution of Sydney’s culinary scene in the 2000s, Longrain is making a triumphant return to the city over two special nights. Longrain, now a Melbourne-based hotspot, is setting up shop at Eileen’s Bar, nestled within the Four Pillars Laboratory in Surry Hills. Sydney foodies will once again have the opportunity to savour Longrain’s signature dishes, most known for their delicious and vibrant Thai food.

Longrain’s pop-up will take place over two evenings on Friday July 12th and Saturday July 13th, showcasing the best of traditional Southeast Asian cuisine and cooking. Order from an a la carte menu or opt for their signature set menu priced at $58pp for six courses. For this exclusive takeover, the Longrain chefs will be dishing up a snacking experience. Expect to try Longrain’s most loved dishes, including pacific oysters with roasted red chilli nahm jim, prawn betel leaf with shrimp caramel and coriander, followed by Wagyu beef skewers with cashew nut and roasted rice.

Alongside taking over the restaurant, the team will also be taking over the bar, shaking up some of their cocktails with Four Pillars Gin. All plates have been created to highlight the complementary flavours of Longrain’s signature style and the botanicals of Four Pillars. A stand out on the menu is an ode to the Sydney Longrain O.G. cocktail, ‘My Thai Revisited’, a mix of Four Pillars Fresh Yuzu Gin with lemongrass and cucumber distillate, ginger and chilli. For more Thai-inspired gin drinks, sip on the Modern Australian Lassi with Four Pillars Modern Australian Gin, mango, lychee, white chocolate, yoghurt and coconut. All diners on the set menu will also be served a ‘Pineapple Express’ cocktail using Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin, orange Curacao, pineapple and cucumber.

This pop-up marks a short and sweet homecoming for the restaurant, rekindling nostalgia for those who remember the original Sydney Longrain. Bookings are recommended, with seatings from 5pm to 11pm. Walk-ins are also available for those who want to try their luck.
