With 310 square metres of rooftop space offering panoramic terrace views of the CBD, a late-night menu, and live DJs, JŌJI is set to be Sydney’s newest go-to for a night out.
Perched atop Cartier’s flagship on the bustling corner of George and King Streets, JŌJI is set to become one of Sydney’s most exciting rooftop venues. ESCA Group, known for Surry Hills favourites like Nour and ITO, unveils this new venture, blending urban sophistication with Japanese-inspired design principles like Shibui, Wabi Sabi, and Datsuzoku.
This 310-square-metre space features a panoramic terrace with stunning views of the CBD, along with a chic cocktail lounge and dining area. As night falls, JŌJI transforms from a relaxed afternoon escape to a lively evening venue with vinyl sessions and live DJ sets. Its late-night menu, available from 10pm to 1am, includes the crowd-pleasing JŌJI burger with Japanese wagyu bolognese, a bold twist on a classic.
The cocktail menu, curated by Group Bar Manager Kerry Burgess, formerly of London’s Happiness Forgets, reflects JŌJI’s philosophy of honouring tradition with a creative twist. Signature drinks like the Bamboo cocktail combine tequila, tomato, and apricot for a refreshing, innovative flavour. The dining menu, crafted by Executive Chef Paul Farag, incorporates a 2-metre robata grill that infuses dishes with the rich taste of charcoal cooking. Shareable plates range from Kingfish with yuzu kosho to the scallop and bug sando, and lighter options like quail and pork tsukune with shiitake koji.
Brought to life by architect Matt Darwon, JŌJI’s design combines bold metallic accents, deep burgundy hues, and Tasmanian blackwoods, creating an atmosphere that mirrors Sydney’s vibrant CBD. ESCA Group Co-Founder Ibby Moubadder says, “We’ve poured our hearts into this venue. JŌJI is a place where everyone is welcome to enjoy delicious food, world-class cocktails, and some of the best music Sydney has to offer.”
