It’s time to ditch the controller and grab the crew!
Step aside, VR headsets and pixelated dragons. There’s a new, distinctly analog adventure making waves in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, and it doesn’t require goggles or controllers. Immersive Gamebox, offers a unique twist on interactive entertainment, where your body becomes the controller and teamwork trumps tech specs.
Forget solitary escapades in dimly lit basements. You can step into a life-sized game board alongside friends or family, where physical agility, quick thinking, and maybe a dash of laughter collide. Squid Game fans can test their mettle in a reimagined world of honeycomb challenges and marbles, while those wishing for simpler times can slingshot their way through an Angry Birds showdown. Younger adventurers can join Ryder and the Paw Patrol pups on a mission, or navigate the whimsical world of Shaun the Sheep.
“It’s like VR, only without the bulky headsets,” says Richard Dilly, General Manager at Merlin Entertainments, the folks behind Immersive Gamebox’s Sydney outpost. “It’s all about social interaction and shared experience.”
With a diverse range of games catering to all ages and interests, Immersive Gamebox promises something for everyone. Date night can take a thrilling turn with Ghostbusters, while corporate teams can forge bonds through the shared stress of navigating their potential future of the “AI Nightmare.”
So trade your thumbs for teamwork, ditch the pixels for physical prowess, and prepare to be transported to a world where imagination is the controller. Sessions will run from 10 am – 6 pm on weekdays and until 8 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. You can book 30-minute sessions starting at $36 for adults and $26 for kids under 11, but if you want to take it up a level you can embark on a 60-minute adventure at $67 for adults and $48 for kids.
