Missing Friday nights at the pub? Why not tune in Furphy Fridays, the new virtual Aussie pub hosted by Matt Okine and Aaron Finch.
It’s one of the many things we’re told is off the cards for the foreseeable future. The pilgrimage to the pub. Whether it’s sinking a few schooners after a long week at work or toasting to the start of the weekend, the pub is one of our most beloved meeting spots. And it’s been hard to find a replacement since the social distancing restrictions of COVID-19 have come into effect. That is, until now.
Say hello to Furphy Fridays, the new virtual Aussie pub experience launched by the brewers from Furphy Refreshing Ale. Kicking off for one hour every Friday night from April 24th to May 29th, Furphy Fridays invites up to 1,000 eager punters to say cheers and share a beer (well, virtually at least). The event kicks off from 5:30 pm AEST every Friday night for the next 6 weeks, giving Aussie that chance to revive the comforting normality of Friday night pub-life.
And it’s not just any kind of live-streamed event. Actor and comedian Matt Okine will be joined by Australian cricketer Aaron Finch to host the evening, putting banter and fun pub games and traditions back on the menu. During the evening, three furphies will be told: one by Matt Okine, one by an audience member, and one by a mystery guest, with pub-goers using the clues behind the bar to try and guess the guest before their identity is revealed.
Plus, the virtual pub will be offering a virtual meat tray giveaway as well as offering a virtual tip jar to allow patrons to rate their hosts’ hospitality (with contributions going to GIVIT’s COVID-19 relief fund, which Furphy will match dollar-for-dollar).
Want to complete your virtual pub experience? Furphy has joined forces with pubs, clubs and bars nationwide to offer delivery booze. Simply head online to get connect with a local pub who will deliver a frosty Furphy to your door this Friday.
