Review: Fortuna Drink & Eat’s New Boozy Italian Bottomless Brunch

Drink, Eat, Sydney / 26 July 2022

Darlinghurst’s new all-day Italian eatery has just launched a bottomless brunch as the perfect way to ring in the weekend. Cin Cin!

Bustling cafe by day and cosy restaurant come night, Fortuna Drink & Eat opened its doors in late December 2021 in Sydney’s trendy Darlinghurst. Serving up the authentic flavours of Napoli and Sicilian cuisine, the venue has quickly become a favourite amongst locals and visitors. Once you step into the restaurant, expect subtle pastel and neutral hues, transporting you instantly to a Spring Italian afternoon in the midst of Sydney’s winter!

If the FOMO for a European Summer is too real right now, gather up your friends and go for the next best thing at Fortuna Drink & Eat’s latest bottomless brunch event. On Fridays – Sundays from 12:30 pm, enjoy a free-flowing spritz session, paired with an Italian banquet of small appetisers for a wonderful afternoon of feasting.
For just $89 per person, you will be sharing a selection of 7 dishes, reminiscent of an Italian dining experience. Nibble on marinated Scillian olives, tomatoes infused with olive oil & tomato water, herbed burrata paired with house-baked focaccia, San Daniele prosciutto, porchetta and golden roasted potatoes.

Of course, a bottomless brunch would not be a bottomless brunch without the booze. In the 90-minute session, sip on the classic brunch cocktail, mimosas, or perhaps opt for Italian aperitivos, Aperol Spritz or Negroni. Beer & wine connoisseurs also have the opportunity to sample from the thoughtfully curated beer & wine menu with beverages from Italy’s renowned food regions like Puglia, Tuscany and Piedmont.

If you are still hungry for more, add on $10 per person and select 2 pasta dishes from the menu. We ordered the Fettuccine, cooked to al dente perfection and infused with forrest mushroom, enoki, parmigiano & a hint of truffle. The Pappardelle served with slow and tendered cooked lamb ragu topped with chilli and provolone is also highly recommended if you are after something meatier.

If Bottomless Brunch is not your thing, Fortuna also offers an array of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes. Choose from salads, sandwiches, pastas – all prepared with an Italian twist. The chef’s recommendations include the Spiced Pear Porridge ($16) made with warm rolled oats, spiced pear, coconut flakes and caramelised hazelnut, which will be sure to warm your winter mornings. For lunch, the Funghi Bruschetta ($22) served with portobello mushroom, scrambled eggs, crispy kale, shaved parmigiano, and fermented chilli is a much-loved favourite.

The restaurant has been brought to life by hospitality veterans, George Nahas & Egon Marzaioli, who have over 30 years of combined experience in the industry. Restauranteur Nahas, who is also behind other Sydney’s well-loved restaurants like Bella Cucina and Romolo, has worked with Fortuna’s head chef for almost a decade. As experts in crafting delicious and authentic Italian fare, you know you are in good hands.

Fortuna Drink & Eat is open seven days a week. From Sunday to Thursday, enjoy breakfast & lunch from 7 am-4 pm. On Friday & Saturday, visit for breakfast, dinner or lunch from 7 am-10 pm.
