East Village Launches a New Tiki Terrace Pop-up Bar

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 2 November 2017

Darlinghurst goes Tropicana with East Village’s Tiki Terrace pop-up opening this summer.

As we brace for the sweat and perspiration that come with the warmer months, East Village Sydney is hoping to alleviate some of the heat with its refreshing inner-city oasis. Piña coladas, totems and tacky Hawaiian shirts, the Tiki Terrace pop-up is shaking and stirring all summer long.
Tiki Terrace East Village cocktail
The Tiki Terrace has given East Village’s famous city view a tropical twist. Basking in neon lights under the shade of plush tropical ferns, the Palmer Street institution has well and truly been welcomed to the jungle. From funky inflatable lobsters to a re-styled menu bursting with freshness, no tiki expense has been spared to transforming the 100sqm terrace space.
It wouldn’t be tiki time without a cheeky cocktail. The arrival of Tiki Terrace signals a summer loving menu transformation. Get caught in the rain with a Banana Colada or escape the inner-city rush with the ‘Rye Tai’ served in a traditional Tiki mug. For the more refined tropical tantaliser opt for The Painkiller. We can’t promise your head won’t need one the next morning.
Tiki Terrace East Village food
East Village’s produce driven food menu has also come under the voodoo charm of the Tiki Terrace. The restaurant’s new head chef, Richard Pattendan, has introduced a variety of finger-licking delights to match the tropical atmosphere. Additions to the large plate menu include the spicy Jerk Chicken Boa with pineapple ketchup and a hint of coriander and the new Burrata with a smack of summer thanks to grilled mango and papaya salsa. To share, or for a smaller feed the menu is saying aloha to a Grilled Snapper Escabeche with charred spring onion, black olives and parsley and fresh Kingfish carpaccio.
Quit daydreaming about that island holiday. Although we can’t promise you’ll find your own Ketut, the Tiki Terrace is the tropical breeze to your mid-week freeze.
