World Tequila Day is on the 24th of July each year and it goes without saying that the day gives boozers a free pass to drink tequila at all hours. Whether you prefer it in a classic Tommy’s or Margarita, or you’re hardcore and like it on the rocks, join us in the celebration of this century-old Mexican liquor.
When we think of our favourite tequila, it’s hard to go past Patrón. It’s handcrafted, authentic and oh so smooth to drink which is the best outcome for most spirits. This World Tequila Day, the team of tequila experts from Patrón have elevated their classic recipes so you can up your game in the kitchen. You’ll be able to pimp up your Margarita with fragrant basil or your Paloma with Patrón Reposado. However you choose to celebrate, Patrón have you covered with these recipes below.
Patrón Silver Basil Lime Margarita
60ml Patrón Silver
30ml Fresh lime juice
30ml Simple syrup
4 Basil leaves
Lime wheel for garnish
Step 1: Combine liquid ingredients and 3 basil leaves in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice to chill.
Step 2: Strain onto fresh ice in a rocks glass and garnish with a lime wheel and basil leaf.
Patrón Añejo Old Fashioned
60ml Patrón Añejo
8ml Simple syrup
1 dash Bitters
Step 1: Over a double old-fashioned glass, use a vegetable peeler to take off two strips of orange zest, making sure to express the oil into the glass.
Step 2: Add Patrón Añejo, Simple syrup, and bitters.
Step 3: Add ice – the biggest cubes you can find – and stir.
Step 4: Adjust sweetness to taste.
Patrón Reposado Perfect Paloma
45ml Patrón Reposado
80ml Fresh grapefruit juice
15ml Agave syrup (1.1)
15ml Fresh-squeezed lime juice
30ml Sparkling water
Sugar and salt for rimming
Grapefruit wedge for garnish
Step 1: Combine all ingredients except sparkling water in a shaker tin and shake with ice to chill.
Step 2: Strain onto fresh ice in a sugar and salt-rimmed Collins glass.
Step 3: Top with sparkling water and garnish with a grapefruit wedge
