The Black Star Pastry team has turned a page and started a new chapter in The Galeries.
This isn’t the first time Black Star Pastry has opened a venue in The Galeries. In fact, they never left. You might be familiar with Black Star Pastry’s small cafe nook upstairs inside the bustling bookstore, Kinokuniya. The cafe has been a favourite among pastry lovers and book worms alike, a spot to refuel with a quick coffee and pastry whilst shopping in the CBD. And now the Black Star Pastry team has moved downstairs with the launch of a new outpost in the heart of The Galeries.
Say hello to Black Star Pastry, The Galeries. This new ground floor spot finds its home in a former nut shop, conveniently located near the Pitt Street entrance to The Galeries. It’s an exciting move for the bakery who had outgrown their cafe spot in Kinokuniya but wanted to remain centrally located for CBD workers and pastry lovers.
The first thing you’ll notice at Black Star Pastry The Galeries is its dramatic facade. In fact, the design of the hole-in-the-wall spot pays homage to its bookstore roots, with over oversized page seemingly peeling back to reveal the bakery’s range of cakes on display. Inside, you’ll find a sleek concrete bench and glass display cabinet filled with the iconic sweet treats that have made this bakery a Sydney favourite.

So, what can you expect on the menu? Here you’ll find all the Black Star favourites such as the Raspberry Lychee Cake, Dragon Cake and of course the famous Strawberry Watermelon Cake. The team will also be slinging pastries and Little Marionette coffees to keep the CBD caffeinated all day long.
Want to skip the queues? The Black Star Pastry team will also be offering a dedicated “Take Cake” collection point, which lets you order cakes online and pick up with ease.
