Alibi is the new plant based restaurant and bar to try.
Over the past few years Sydney has grown an impressive portfolio of plant-based restaurants, the latest addition to the family is Alibi – a grand new eatery inside designer hotel Ovolo Woolloomooloo.
Alibi is the gastronomic brainchild of world-renowned chef Matthew Kenney and Executive Chef Kasper Christensen, who both thought it was time plant based dining kicked it up a notch. Alibi is an aesthetic and culinary destination planted firmly at Sydney’s Finger Wharf, and believe us when we say that this one will take your breath away.
Culinary big-wig Kenney wants you to feast your eyes on the entire experience, which is why Alibi boasts innovative design, a playful aesthetic, and a menu that’s visually stunning (and delicious). The venue sells itself as ‘a perfect hideout’ and it’s not hard to see why; intimate booths, quirky partitions, neon signs, vintage arcade games, and a secret garden all make Alibi a truly unique experience.
The menu serves up fun seasonal dishes like kimchi dumplings with ginger foam ($18), cashew mozzarella pizza ($21), heirloom tomato and zucchini lasagna ($23), and barbecued mushroom tacos ($21).
The dessert menu is presented as a quartet; A banana split with strawberry goji and vanilla hemp ($14), coconut cream pie with macadamia crust ($14), tiramisu with frozen almond chantilly ($14), and strawberry cheesecake with lime curd and sorrel gel ($13). Yeah, you’ll want to bring your stretchy pants for this trip.
The bespoke cocktail menu takes inspiration from local and international flavours, serving up new classics and old favourites. We won’t give away all of Alibi’s mixology secrets, but you can expect the likes of Blazen the Chester, Beetroot Beatbox, and an Enchanted Forest. Curious? Accompanying this is also a carefully curated wine list, honouring locally sourced and European drops.
Alibi is the ideal place to impress, challenge, and welcome your senses to the world of plant based fine-dining. So, what’s your excuse?
