The first 25 Hours Hotel will be opening in Oxford Street in a charming heritage-listed building.
Sydneysiders are no stranger to Oxford Street. While the spot has had a difficult few years due to Sydney’s lockout laws, the area is coming back to life. Earlier this month, we saw the opening of Cafe Freda’s in Taylor Square, delivering a new eatery and bar to the area. And now, a heritage building is getting a new lease on life with the launch of an epic new hotel in Paddington.
Get ready for Sydney’s first outpost of 25 Hours Hotel, coming to Oxford Street in 2022. You might have heard of this hotel chain before, with plenty of hotels dotted across Europe (from Berlin to Paris).
This first 25 Hours Hotel will find its home at 1-11 Oxford Street, nestled at the intersection with South Dowling Street, Victoria Street, and Barcom Avenue.
The digs of this new hotel have an interesting past. The heritage building was first opened back in 1911, known as West’s Olympia Theatre. Now, the building is being transformed into a bustling hotel, designed by local architecture firm Tonkin Zulaikha Greer. Once complete, the hotel is set to boast 105 rooms, an on-site cafe, restaurant, rooftop bar, and plenty of retail spots to get your shopping fix too.
This outpost of 25 Hours Hotel will be part of the Accor chain and sees a partnership between Sydney developer Central Element and property investors Boston Global (CEBH). As for the interiors, the rooms, public spaces and event areas will be taken care of by A Work of Substance (Hong Kong) and Acme & Co (Sydney) will be designing the bar, restaurant, and cafe.
So, when can you nab a spot at 25 Hours Hotel? The construction is slated to start this year, with the project due for completion sometime in 2022. Find out more about the 25 Hours Hotel chain here.
