A sustainable future is taking root as St Hubert’s The Stag, a renowned Victorian winery, announces its commitment to reforestation in collaboration with Australian environmental restoration company, AirSeed. The partnership aims to plant 100,000 seed pots over the next 12 months, using AirSeed’s advanced drone technology to reforest areas of Australia impacted by extreme weather conditions and the effects of climate change.
AirSeed’s innovative GPS-tracked seed pod technology enables tree planting at a staggering rate of 40,000 seeds per day, almost 25 times faster than manual planting. The initiative will not only help to restore habitats and sequester carbon but also promote biodiversity through scalable reforestation and revegetation.
St Hubert’s The Stag Winemaker, Greg Jarratt, emphasizes the importance of this new partnership for the winery, which has long focused on wilderness preservation. “With our roots quite literally embedded in agriculture, it’s crucial as an industry we do what we can when it comes to preserving the Australian landscape. St Hubert’s The Stag has long had a focus on the wilderness, so the opportunity to partner with AirSeed was a natural fit,” says Jarratt.
In addition to the reforestation efforts, St Hubert’s The Stag is embracing more sustainable practices, including a transition to lighter-weight bottles made from recycled glass content. This move is part of the brand’s broader strategy to reduce its environmental impact and contribute to a brighter future.
This collaboration allows St Hubert’s The Stag to engage its customers and growers in meaningful ways while making a tangible contribution to rewilding Australia. Jarratt adds, “The initiative makes a great talking point at social gatherings or a truly meaningful gift.”
AirSeed is on a mission to combat climate change and biodiversity loss, merging drone technology, artificial intelligence, and data-driven insights with their proprietary seed pod biotechnology. Andrew Walker, AirSeed CEO and Co-Founder, says, “St Hubert’s The Stag’s intention to not only restore land at scale but engage their grower networks and customers in meaningful ways creates an opportunity to bring attention to the vital work required to preserve our natural world.”
As St Hubert’s The Stag and AirSeed take the lead in environmental stewardship, their combined efforts promise a new dawn for sustainable practices in the wine industry and beyond, contributing to the long-term preservation of Australia’s precious natural resources.
