Don’t we all love the Christmas holidays? The sun shining, carols being sung, and more candy canes being handed out than you could ever imagine. The team at QV Melbourne get it, lighting up the CBD with a new and FREE Christmas Hub in the QV city square.
The shining star of the Christmas Hub is an Australian first walk through Christmas tree, towering at 15 metres with unique Christmas characters and magical lights all throughout. As you immerse yourself in the display, state of the art digital tech creates moving colour patterns all over the tree. The design was inspired by the geometry of Melbourne, and sits near the Myer Christmas windows as a joyful festive destination these holidays.
To create the walkthrough Christmas tree, QV enlisted the help of decor kings, The Xmas Designers. Katja Böhme, Austraian project executive for The Xmas designers, gushed over the brief.
“This will help Melburnians get festive with a tree that captures the imagination and incites childlike wonder. We absolutely believe that the QV Christmas Tree will do that and more. Using the latest technology the tree will shimmer with shifting festive colours, whilst the 6 metre wide interior will feature other digital delights as well as unique Christmas characters to interact with and photograph,”
Live illustrator, Zahra Zainal, will be creating improvised personalised comic strips around the theme of human connection. If you’re looking to get a unique, handmade gift for yourself this Christmas, here’s a pro tip beforehand: Zahra will ask you to give her an answer, “Who do you most want to feel a connection with this holiday season, and why?”
The Christmas Hub will also be home to a Gold Room that will give everyone the chance to feel golden. Capture yourself in a glittering selfie space, guaranteed to be 100% instagrammable. You can also treat your tastebuds to the Gourmet Golden Gustation, with golden themed delights such as golden fairy floss and golden caramel popcorn. If you’re around on Mondays to Thursdays, you can also sample your own custom creation from the golden donut decorating station. Talk about a program fit for a king!
