Pinchy’s is the new lobster and champagne bar on Bourke St

Bars, Eat, Melbourne / 2 December 2019

Iconic former food truck finds a permanent home in Melbourne.

Their slogan is “made by sea”, and in a country that boasts of being girt by sea, you just know that Pinchy’s Lobster and Champagne Bar is going to be a hit. After a successful stint as a food truck and pop-up, Pinchy’s have put down roots at their brand new brick and mortar flagship restaurant. They’re serving up sustainable seafood in an Instagramable pastel pink space overlooking Bourke Street.

When biting into a Pinchy’s roll, you know you can expect rich, buttery lobster in a perfectly crunchy baguette, but Pinchy’s Lobster and Champagne Bar will also be serving up mussels, razor clams, scallops and a cornucopia of other marine delights to tempt – and plenty of bubbly to wash it all down with.

Their mission is to serve up high quality seafood that is sustainably sourced – which has sent them halfway across the world to the pristine waters of Maine and Alaska to find the best lobster and king crab. Protected from pollution, waste and over-fishing, the sustainable fisheries that work with Pinchy’s work to world-leading environmental standards that help preserve natural habitats.

Pinchy’s flagship store is an oasis in the city. Whilst Bourke Street bustles below, Pinchy’s offers a haven of nestled away at the top of an escalator. The decor is true to a Wes Anderson meets Miami space that the team behind Pinchy’s have worked hard to create. Plush pink velvet booths cap off the bar area, while pastel pink terrazzo tables and luxe blue velvet decorate the dining area – all watched over by the venue’s iconic unblinking neon sign.

Head out onto the balcony to add some greenery to your city experience, and while away your summer evenings with a plate or two of crab tacos with avocado mousse and red salsa, or maybe a stack of calamari, stuffed and topped with a herby tarragon dressing.

If you’re worried that Pinchy’s – a seafood restaurant – might be off the table for the plant based members of your squad, you’ve got nothing to worry about. The team have put together a number of vegetarian and vegan options so everyone can have their perfect Pinchy’s experience.

With summer on our door step, Pinchy’s Lobster and Champagne Bar is a must for amazing seafood that tastes great and makes you feel good.
