Everyone loves a good happy hour, especially when it comes to a Melbourne CBD happy hour special. These days, ‘happy hour’ doesn’t always mean cheap house spirits, wine and beer for just one hour, but rather a hefty dose of daily specials, including food to entice us through the doors of your local establishments. From $5 wines, to $1 wings, we’ve put together a list of our favourite CBD happy hour spots.

Father’s Office

This 1920’s prohibition themed bar, known for its vintage decor and spectacular views, have got your back when it comes to end of work day drink specials. Think $12 cocktails, $5 wines, and $7 spirits. Or come with a group and get a beer jug for $15. Happy hour is from Monday to Saturday from 5pm – 7pm and 8pm – 10pm. Sundays from 11am until closing.

Campari House

We love a happy hour with a twist! Campari House is situated in the iconic Hardware Lane with an Italian restaurant, a rooftop bar and cocktail lounge. No two days are ever the same with the everchanging cocktail happy hour menu happening Sunday to Thursday from 4pm – 7pm. Get cheap cocktails on the reg like Mojito Monday for $10 or Tom Collins Thursdays for $12.

Banoi

Happy hour at a Vietnamese eatery? You bet. Banoi is located right in the heart of the CBD, with more than enough cheap drinks to go around for you and your mates after work. Oh, and there’s happy hour snacks too! Treat yourself to $6 bottled beer, cider, house wine and spirits, as well as $6 snacks all night long. Happy hour starts from 4pm every Monday to Friday and finishes off at 7pm.

What’s better than one happy hour special? When there’s three to choose from! FiftyFive is a basement bar located on Elizabeth street. It’s a hidden city secret, but once you enter, it’s like a whole other world down there. Every Monday FiftyFive are serving $4 pots on all taps until all the kegs are dead. From Tuesday to Thursday 5pm – 7pm you can get $8 moon dog pints, $8 napoleon cider pints and $8 house wines. On weekends from 7pm – 10pm you can grab an espresso martini for only $14.

Tazio

Tazio is on everyone’s lips as the must try italian joint. The cozy restaurant specialises in traditional Italian pizza and fusion cuisine, with two bars complementing the space. They serve an extensive selection of local and imported beers, wines, cocktails and spirits. Get $8 basics, schooners and house wine for happy hour, $10 pints and $16 espresso martinis and long island iced teas. Happy Hour runs from Monday to Thursday 3pm – 7pm, and Fridays from 3pm – 7pm. Tazio dinner specials also start from 6pm so you can grab a cheeky meal after happy hour shenanigans.

Burger Boys 

Housed inside Saving Grace bar, Burger boys serve up delicious burger and fried chicken wings, with a hidden happy hour menu to boot. We’re talking $8 furphy pints and $10 aperol spritz every Monday to Friday from 4pm – 7pm. If you happen to pop by on Monday, you can grab their famous Kentucky Derby Fried Chicken Burger for only $6. Or if wings are your thing, get them for $1 every Tuesday.

The Crafty Squire

Home to the famous James Squire Brewhouse, the Crafty Squire is the only working microbrewery in Melbourne’s CBD. In true pub fashion, you can order a mouth watering meal and beer whilst watching sport on the big screen TV’s. Happy hour at the Crafty Squire is from Monday to Friday 4pm – 7pm. Kick back and enjoy in true Crafty’s style with $10 pints, $5 pots of beer, $8 spirits and $6 house wines.

Asian Beer Cafe

Known as ‘ABC’ for short, it’s vibrant Asian inspired decor, buzzing atmosphere and cheap deals are renowned within the uni and work circles. Sit inside and enjoy the music or head to the balcony and take in the views, ABC has got something for everyone. There are $12 cocktails, $6 spirits, $10 cocktails (and frozen cocktails), $9 sumo’s choice beer jugs and lots more. Happy hour is on everyday from 4pm – 8pm.

BearBrass 

Located on the banks of the Yarra River at Southgate on Southbank, BearBrass offers a relaxed dining environment perfect for casual drinks. Their happy hour features tempting offers of food and drink specials, like pizza and a pint every Wednesday for just $20. You can also grab $10 cocktails every Thursday from 5pm and $8 pints on Fridays from 4pm – 8pm with a live DJ.

Glamp Cocktail Bar

Situated in the space above the polēpolē bar, Glamp bar takes on a glamorous theme for a really energetic atmosphere. Drink crafty cocktails and nibble on African inspired snacks under safari-style canvas and inspired decor. Down in polēpolē you can get $6 beers, ciders, and wines from Tuesday to Sautrday until 7pm. Up in Glamp bar score yourself $12 cocktails from Thursday to Saturday until 8pm.
