Adidas is Now Making shoes From Plastic Bottles

Cool Sh*t / 4 July 2018

One man’s trash is another’s pair of shoes. This new Adidas range is turning 11 plastic bottles into a one pair of shoes.

Saving the dolphins just got one bit easier thanks to the new Adidas and Parley For The Oceans collaboration.  These partners have joined forces to create a sportswear range made from recycled plastic bottles in order to raise awareness for the threat of marine plastic pollution.

One pair of the ocean-saving UltraBOOST X shoes prevents a whole 11 plastic bottles from entering our oceans. So you can thank them from stopping that Fiji water bottle you bought last month endangering our precious wildlife. The shoes are available in a chalk pearl colour, can be purchased online from June 8 and will be in store worldwide from June 27. You can call the UltraBOOST Parley your own for $260AUD or the UltraBOOST X for $300AUD. It’s really the least you could do for all those plastic bottles you’ve bought in your time.

Adidas Parley

Don’t fret, Adidas and Parley have ensured being green doesn’t have to come at the sacrifice of style or standard. The range maintains Adidas’ usual high performance and high-purpose standard. And we bet you wouldn’t have even known they’re made of plastic bottles if we hadn’t told you.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you can also run to save the oceans! Adidas and Parley for the Oceans have announced the return of Run For The Oceans. For every kilometre run using the Runtastic app, Adidas will match a US$1 Donation – up to the value of $1 US million. The money raised will then go towards the Parley Ocean School program which provides education to our next generation of Ocean Guardians. This may be the motivation you’ve been waiting for to kick start your winter exercise routine.

The program ends July 8th, so don’t waste time, download Runtastic to track your steps and get moving- for your own sake and the oceans.
