Pizza Bros Erskineville – rooftop pizza with a cult following
Perched above The Imperial Hotel on Erskineville Road, Pizza Bros has become one of the Inner West's most talked about pizza destinations. Brothers Joey Pepperoni and Marty McFly, who legally changed their names to match their obsession, started out slinging pizzas from a mobile truck at Queensland festivals in 2019 before COVID forced a rebuild. They landed back in Sydney, put in time at Bella Brutta, Gigi's and The Dolphin Hotel, and eventually found a permanent home on The Imperial's rooftop.
The menu is tight and confident, built around a signature leopard-spotted wood-fired crust that comes out airy and chewy with plenty of char. Expect playful, ingredient-driven pies like the black truffle cacio e pepe, the mortadella-topped Rick and Morty, and the prawn and fermented chilli Waterworld, alongside a rotating vegetarian special and vegan and gluten free options on request.
The setting is as much a part of the appeal as the food. Fringed umbrellas, a glittering gold pizza oven and one of Sydney's best LGBTQIA+ venues underneath make this a rooftop for long lazy lunches or lively weekend nights, with the oven firing seven nights a week.
