Get ready to groove in Quay Quarter’s hot new venues.

Disco Pantera and Tigra, headed by Scottish brothers (and hospo veterans) Gordon and Ross Purnell are now open. Sprawled across two levels on Young Street, they’re promising a double dose of good times under one roof.

Disco Pantera is an ode to 1970s NYC, serving “disco” vibes, with a modern twist. Expect a mix of DJs, chic decor, and innovative cocktails that will keep you dancing all through the night. Contrastingly, Tigra brings a combination of the lively laneway cultures of Barcelona and Tokyo, offering a refined space for midday aperitifs and upmarket bar snacks.

With years of experience in the hospitality industry, the sibling duo have created a space that underlines their love for entertainment and travel. “We were inspired by our favorite spots around the world, places like Barcelona and Tokyo where unexpected flavour combinations and elevated ingredients come to life in a relaxed but electric atmosphere,” explains Ross Purnell.

Tigra, located on the ground floor, is a vibrant space with decor inspired by iconic Spanish artist, Joan Miró. With a menu featuring a selection of daily snacks and small plates, including standouts like Koshihakari ‘cat’ rice, Yarra Valley salmon roe, and anchovy soldier. Perfect to pair with an aperitif offering or a drop from the extensive wine list.

Upstairs you’ll find Disco Pantera, a charismatic cocktail bar which exudes New York’s vibrant nightlife. With decor including vintage lighting, deadstock tiles, and reclaimed wood and stone. Enjoy inventive cocktails like the chimichurri marg, or the alpine sazerac, while grooving to the eclectic sounds spun by their weekly DJ.

Both venues are open from Monday to Saturday, 4pm to 2am. Check out the Quay Quarter website for updates here.
