The Grounds Coffee Factory Opens In Eveleigh

Drink / 3 September 2024

Sydney’s latest coffee spot takes us on a journey into coffee craftsmanship and creativity. Here’s what to expect from The Grounds latest opening.

The Grounds group are bringing an adult version of the Wonka Factory to South Eveleigh. You don’t need a golden ticket to check out their new coffee factory and immerse yourself in the journey from bean to brew, you just need to go to Eveleigh. It’s expected to be a lively spot where coffee and good times come together. If you’re not a coffee connoisseur, fear not. You can enjoy bar snacks and a classic schooner at the stunning new venue.

The Grounds Group is known for creating exceptional guest experiences. From transforming The Grounds of Alexandria into a winter wonderland every Christmas to creating an immersive Alice In Wonderland garden that Sydney-siders cross suburbs for and queue around the block to ensure they get an Instagram selfie. They are undeniably committed to their themes and are an impressive group. Their latest venture is 10 years in the making and is set to open this week in South Eveleigh. It’s all about coffee this time and set to transform Sydney’s coffee scene with top-quality coffee, delicious food, and engaging experiences.

Visitors can watch Head Roaster Nick Ferguson, an original member of The Grounds’ team since its opening in 2012, in action as he takes you through the roasting process. The coffee factory will offer educational tours, coffee cuppings, and hands-on workshops focusing on brewing techniques and latte art. These activities are designed for both casual sippers and dedicated connoisseurs, offering a deeper insight into the world of coffee.

Founder and Director Ramzey Chocker made this project a family endeavour. His sister, Caroline and brother-in-law, Vince Alafaci, of Acme, envisioned the design, while his wife, Therese Moussa Choker, The Grounds’ Creative Director, added her renowned flair to the venue. The result is a venue that beautifully combines modern industrial elements with a touch of old-world charm that has kept in line with the building’s past as a former railway workers’ cafeteria.

Coffee has always been a great way to foster or maintain relationships, making the coffee factory a perfect addition to the South Eveleigh community and a perfect spot to catch up over a pastry and a specially crafted coffee. The Grounds are known for producing fresh coffee for its venues. As demand grew, the operation moved to a larger warehouse. When that space became insufficient, the move to South Eveleigh followed and inspired the factory concept. Doors officially open on Wednesday 4th of September and they will be open from 7.30am-4pm, Monday to Saturday. Find out more here.
