Move over kale salad! Superfreak proves healthy eating can be exciting with its seasonal menu and welcoming vibe.
Marrickville’s Enmore Road has a new resident, and its name might raise an eyebrow. Superfreak isn’t here to shock, though. Instead, it aims to be a cute spot for those seeking a heart-warming breakfast in a funky setting.
The brainchild of Michael Ico and Daniel Harrison, the duo behind Newtown’s beloved Soulmate and Splash Coffee, Superfreak offers a fresh take on the all-day diner concept. SInside you’ll be greeted by a space designed by award-winning YSG Studios. Think warm wood tones, plush bronze banquettes, and pops of green through the shelving and paintwork. Records softly spin in the background, creating a soothing atmosphere that’s a welcome respite from the busy street outside.
The menu, developed in collaboration with Aplenty’s Michaela Johansson, focuses on wholesome, seasonal fare. It’s not extensive, but that allows the kitchen to perfect each dish. You’ll find breakfast options like a comforting warm porridge made with oats, rye, and buckwheat, or a decadent breakfast roll featuring jammy eggs, tangy cheddar, and a refreshing shallot herb salad.
Superfreak caters to health-conscious diners without feeling restrictive. Salads change seasonally, offering a mix-and-match approach to create your perfect plate. The menu boasts vibrant combinations like “mustardy” leeks with lentils and a touch of sweetness from pepperonata, or a traybake bursting with roasted cauliflower, carrots, and chickpeas drizzled in a zesty green goddess dressing.
For those after a lighter option, a selection of fresh juices and adaptogen drinks are on hand to provide a refreshing pick-me-up. Coffee lovers needn’t worry, with Single O and Artificer Coffee providing their usual high-quality brews.
Superfreak’s charm lies not just in its food and drink but also in its welcoming vibe. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite before a workout or settling in for a leisurely brunch with friends, Superfreak is set up to be the perfect all-day casual spot.
