The Coolest Sh*t Of 2015!

Cool Sh*t, Play, Sydney / 23 December 2015

It’s been a quite a hectic year for Coolsh*t! We’ve laughed at everything from dogs in hats on Instagram, jelly bags of dicks and smiled when this man built a homeless woman a house. There are so many great ones from 2015, so we’re counting down our highlights.
These are the best, funniest and not to mention the weirdest that came our way.

10. Central Perk Pop-Up Cafe

Even without the clientele of original, STAN’s Central Perk Pop-Up Cafe had us nostalgic for Friends, and we weren’t the only ones. The lines were crazy long for the whole of its two week stint in Hyde Park. The coffee was so fine it had even the grumpiest Gunther singing ‘Smelly Cat’.

9. Dining in the Dark

Berlin, home to the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, and the Unsicht Bar (Dark Restaurant). This is truly a unique restaurant experience where you enjoy entrée to dessert sitting in total darkness. Without sight, your senses are heightened: you use touch to navigate your plate, taste to distinguish between flavours, and of course, smell for the individual aromas. Full review here!

8. Unbirthday Cakes

The Castle Hill-based cakery Unbirthday is the brainchild of wunderbaker Nikki Lee that creates the most jaw-droppingly beautiful and scrumptious works of art. A must for all sweet tooths!

7. Miniature Food

Itsy bitsy teeny weeny yummy tasty non-edibles. What’s not to like about the miniature creations of Shay Aaron? See them all on his Instagram @shayaar or find his range of miniature food jewellery on Etsy.

6. Sausage Dogs, in costumes!

2015 will go down in history as the year of the inaugural ‘Running of the Wieners’ at Oktoberfest in Melbourne. There were sausage dogs, lots and lots of sausage dogs, and doggy-costumes galore! The event also raised $3500 for Dachshund Rescue Australia, so everyone came out top dog.

5. Foodcraft Espresso Milkshakes

The milkshakes Erskineville’s Foodcraft Espresso allow you to choose your own adventure. Will it be a Tella Ball Milkshake, or perhaps their Tim Tams, Oreos or Chocolate concoctions? Whichever you choose, you know it’s going to be the bomb! Literally, there’s no hyperbole here, Eat Drink Players.

4. Archie Rose Distilling Co. Tailored Spirits

Adulting went up a sophisticated notch when Archie Rose Distilling Co. announced their range of Tailored Spirits. Allowing tipplers to personalise their Original Vodka and Signature Dry Gin with five of the distillery’s unique botanical distillates, as well as the cask and smoke influence in their Single Malt Whisky or Rye Whisky. Cheers to that!

3. Sydney Chocolate

Now you can have your city and eat it too with Sydney Chocolate. Each chocolate bar flavour is dedicated to a suburb around Sydney, and celebrates their distinct personality. Our favourite is Newtown with beetroot marshmallow and coconut encased in dark couverture, it’s as unique as the original.

2. Skit Box’s Activewear

We just loved all female comedy group Skit Box’s ‘Activewear’ video clip. It was hilarious on point, and in the short space of 24 hours from when they launched their video on social media, it clocked up an impressive 1.4 million views on FaceBook and YouTube. Woo!
