Kuro Japanese Kent Street

New Japanese restaurant 'Kuro' is set to shake up the CBD dining scene this September.

Sydney's newest Japanese restaurant, Kuro, is arriving to Kent Street in Sydney's CBD in September and to say we're excited would be a vast understatement. Co-owners Taka Teramoto (ex-Restaurant Pages, Paris, Florilège in Tokyo and Waqu in Sydney) and Alan Wong will offer two unique dining concepts for lunch and dinner, six days a week at the new restaurant. The first is Teramoto by Kuro. Presenting a more intimate, fine dining degustation for just 10 guests, this Chef's Table is designed to give you a one-on-one experience with the chef, alongside Sommelier Wanaka Teramoto. As for the menu, it will be adapted seasonally and frequently based on produce availability. Dishes include wagyu seared in a white Japanese charcoal (binchotan) with Tasmanian peppers, peas teamed with fresh stracciatella and lovage oil, plus a raw squid sashimi aged with lemon myrtle and tomato dashi with sliced taro stem. The second more casual concept is Kuro Bar & Dining. With seating for 40 diners, you can expect a more relaxed, à la carte experience, featuring a contemporary and creative take on classic Japanese and Asian ingredients and flavours. On the drinks front, the same refined Japanese flare extends to the bar with a signature cocktail list. You can sip your way through recognisable Japanese produce and flavours, alongside Japanese spirits including whisky, gin, Shōchū, sake, Japanese draught beer, a small selection of bar snacks and seating for eight.

More than just an after hours hangout, an innovative brewbar will also open each morning, offering CBD commuters an extensive selection of speciality coffees, teas and breakfast snacks.
