Nestled at the base of the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Rocks is known for being a vibrant cultural hub, with a bustling atmosphere and historic charm. It’s no surprise that it’s also the go-to spot for some of the best eateries in the city, and will soon be home to the notable ZAHLI Middle Eastern Restaurant.
ZAHLI has embarked on a new chapter, having outgrown its original Surry Hills location which first opened its doors in 2014. Seeking to expand their vision and elevate the dining experience, the team have decided to relocate within The Harrington Collection. This award-winning development provides the perfect backdrop for ZAHLI’s next evolution: an even more immersive and refined dining experience, whilst staying true to the restaurant’s core values of authentic Middle Eastern cuisine and warm hospitality.
Owner Mohammad Issmail drew inspiration from his childhood memories and his mother’s cooking to open ZAHLI. One step into the restaurant and you’ll be transported to the heart of Lebanon, dining on the banks of the Sannine River on a balmy summer night. The team have combined tradition with modern cooking, paying homage to Middle Eastern flavours with Australian produce. At the newly renovated restaurant, you’ll still be able to find favourites such as the cold mezza plate (with hommos, baba ghannouj, labneh and tabbouli), bbq king prawns marinated with garlic butter and chef’s special spices as well as shish tawook, chargrilled chicken served with grilled tomato and onion, garlic dip and chilli bread. For drinks, expect an extensive wine list from local and international producers, as well as a curated Lebanese inspired cocktail menu.
“ZAHLI is going through a transformation and Sydney is going to get a new dining destination like no other.” says Mohammad. “We are so excited to be moving our world-class Lebanese cuisine to The Rocks on Sydney Harbour. My vision is to offer a unique authentic Middle Eastern taste coupled with a very classy interior design.”
