Have You Been To The Three Sydney Bars Named In The World’s Best Bars of 2021?

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 15 December 2021

The full list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2021 has been revealed, and a trio of Sydney venues have made the cut.

Back for its 13th edition, The World’s 50 Best Bars is the definitive guide to the world’s best drinking venues. Organised by William Reed Business Media, the event delivers a must-see list of venues each year, voted for by an Academy of over 540 experts worldwide. It’s one of the most highly anticipated rankings for drinks professionals and cocktail aficionados globally, and one of the biggest events of the bar industry calendar. And in 2021, three Sydney venues have earned a spot on this coveted list.

Like so many events in 2021, The World’s 50 Best Bars 2021 (sponsored by Perrier) was revealed in an online awards ceremony. Taking place on December 7th, the rankings were released with bars from 23 countries around the world. Taking out the top spot was London’s Connaught Bar (scoring both the title of The World’s Best Bar and The Best Bar in Europe).

Closer to home, Sydneysiders will be pleased to hear three of our favourite watering holes have earned a spot on this list. First up, we have the award-winning CBD cocktail bar Maybe Sammy, taking out The Best Bar in Australasia (sponsored by Asahi Super Dry) as well as earned the no. 22 spot on the Best Bars list.

Next up, the micro mescal mecca Cantina OK! ranked at no. 23, moving up from its position last year. And last but not least, Sydney’s waste-free bar Re. has earned a spot a no. 46 on the Best Bars list (as well as scoring a Sustainable Bar Award).

In a year that has tested the hospitality industry, this event aims to bring the bar industry closer together and provide some much-needed good news as we turn our attention to the next stage of recovery from the global pandemic.
