Drink in the sunshine on Wine Island
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what would be three things that you would take? For us it’s wine, wine and…more wine! Lucky for us, Sydney’s Wine Island Festival is on again. From Thursday November 2 to Sunday November 4, Clark Island in the middle of Sydney Harbour will transform into a heaven for fans of the fermented grape. The fourth Wine Island sees the return of Dessert Island Bar, a wide selection of local and international wines and lots more.
With views of Sydney to die for, lucky ticket holders will enjoy a weekend of tastings, masterclasses, entertainment and delicious food. Guests will transported via ‘Bellini Boats’ from Circular Quay, Rose Bay and Kirribilli with a peach cocktail in hand by award-winning Italian maker Bellini Cipriani. Once reaching Clark Island, punters can get amongst an extensive and diverse list of winemakers and stall holders. This year’s beverage line up is the biggest to date. From a Fremantle brew by Gage Roads Brewing Co. in the Beer Garden, to a gin cocktail by Archie Rose or a pitcher of Pimms, Wine Island 2018 has something for more than just the wine lovers.
If you fancy a break from all the frivolity, be sure to stop by the Unwined zone and take in the Sydney skyline from the comfort of the Cellarmasters area.
The popular Wine Selectors Masterclasses will also return in 2018. And for those who want to get their boogie on, Silent Disco Drops allows guests to match their music to their wine.
The smorgasbord of festival food, including an abundance of cheese and oysters, will be provided by Chur Burger.
As Clark Island is a small, harbour island, only a limited number of ‘holiday-makers’ can attend the event. Last year’s 3000 tickets sold out in only two hours. So you’ll want to get in quick. Tickets start from $99 and includes entry by ferry and tastings with additional tokens available for purchase on the island. The $199 7-star experience includes unlimited free wine tastings all day, a reserved VIP area and access to the 7 Star Bar. For those looking to be spoilt, opt for the 10 Star Luxury experience for $399. The package includes unlimited tastings and a private chef.
