Where You Need To Visit In Victoria Cross This Weekend

Cool Sh*t / 13 September 2024

Victoria Cross’ first retailers have opened alongside a weekend pop-up!

North Sydney’s transformation is underway with the opening of the first retailers opening their doors at Victoria Cross, a brand new city block situated directly above the new Sydney Metro Victoria Cross Station.

This exciting development coincides with the launch of the Sydney Metro City, boosting connectivity and convenience in the city. The new Victoria Cross Station offers a seamless connection to a vibrant concourse leading to Denison Street. Here, retailers will cater to on-the-go needs, providing essential services and “grab and go” options for busy professionals and commuters. Additional hospitality venues line the Miller Street laneway, offering a more relaxed dining experience.

Expect a diverse range of drops from reputable Australian wineries like Blind Corner (WA), Dr Edge (TAS), Basket Range Wines (SA), Chouette Wines (WA), Tim Ward Wines (NSW), Moonlight (NSW), and Allevare Wines (VIC). International surprises, including Italian, French, and Austrian varietals. DJs will be spinning tunes alongside the pop-up. Grab a glass for $14 to $18, or at happy hour from 5-6pm, for just $10.

Victoria Cross’ permanent offerings:

DOPA Donburi & Dessert has landed, “inspired by flavours from the land of the rising sun”, we strongly recommend the free-range chicken don (which we can’t stop thinking about!) Burger icon Mary’s, renowned for grass-fed beef, and drool-worthy fried chicken is bringing its signature flavours to North Sydney for the first time. Check out Marrickville Pork Roll, a beloved Inner West eatery, debuting its famous banh mi on Sydney’s North side. Macca’s is also setting up shop, the perfect grab-and-go on a budget. Other eateries include Only Coffee, Top Impressions Bakery, Sushi Hub, North Sandwiches, Torotoro Ramen Bar, and Machi Machi. But, this is just the beginning. Seven more retailers are set to open in 2025, coinciding with the completion of the entire Victoria Cross tower.

Alexander Frankl, Lendlease Victoria Cross Project Director, describes the project’s ambition: “Victoria Cross is not just reimagining the workplace. It’s creating a vibrant destination with seamless metro access, popular hospitality brands, and upcoming next-generation health and fitness facilities.”

Victoria Cross is set to be an extension of Sydney’s CBD, offering a convenient and exciting destination for dining, recreation, and business. With the new Metro offering a three-minute commute to the city centre, North Sydney is poised for a substantial transformation.

Pastries and coffee from Too Good Co - Victoria Cross North Sydney

The new precinct goes beyond food. Two Good Co, a social enterprise supporting women facing homelessness and trauma, will have a coffee cart brewing Single O coffee and pastries from Redfern’s Breadfern bakery. Beauty, wellness and gifting needs are covered with Nails Avenue and Sydney’s fave florist Rose & Co. And wellness haven, One Playground is set to open in mid-2025.
