If you’re a Sydney-based foodie with a penchant for Italian fare and chic interiors, be sure to add the newly re-opened Da Orazio to your list of must-visit hot spots.

Boasting a plethora of classic dishes – from the much-loved rotisserie porchetta with focaccia; fregola fruit di mare; as well as the antipasti Italiano plates for two and four; you can also expect to find some delectable new dishes on the menu, which include brick chicken – pollo al mattone; scarpetta – baccala and fried pizza; mortadella cacio e pepe; and an Italian version of saganaki.
Da Orazio
Celebrated chef, Orazio D’Elia, says: “We couldn’t resist bringing back the classic favourite dishes but I’ve been working on some exciting new dishes, inspired from growing up in Italy. And wait until you try the new pizzas. We’re using a new dough starter, and let me tell you, it’ll be easy to devour two margheritas!”

And if you have a fondness for all things pizza, you’ll love the contemporary new pizza dough recipe, which produces lighter and more aromatic pizzas. Created by in-house pizza chef, Matteo Ernandes, he says of the new recipe: “Adapting the biga technique to the pizza dough, produces a lighter and more digestible dough. The temperature of the water is also fundamental, to ensure the tenacity of the dough even if it has a very high hydro.”.

And with a stunning new wine list, classic Italian cocktails a-plenty and a stylish and chic space that is reminiscent of basking in the glow of an endless Italian summer, what’s not to love?!

And so, whether you’re an Italophilia wanting to treat your tastebuds to some mouth-watering Mediterranean cuisine, or are after a stylish spot perfect for post-work cocktails, this Bondi eatery really does have it all – and then some.

Da Orazio is located at 75-79 Hall Street, Bondi and is open seven nights, from 5pm to late. Lunch on Saturday and Sunday from midday. Find out more and book here.
