The oh-so-fabulous Mardi Gras Festival is returning to Sydney this February. Here’s your ultimate guide to everything you need to do.

It’s one of the biggest celebrations of pride to land in Sydney every year. From February 14th to March 1st 2020, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras returns to our sparkling city with an epic program of events, parties, music, workshops, parades and so much more. This year the program is curated around the theme WHAT MATTERS, with a string of events encouraging us all to consider the role we play in creating a more inclusive future for all. The Imperial’s House of Love

Get ready for the last weekend of The Imperial’s Absolut House of Love. Flock to this iconic Erskineville pub for a weekend of live performances from the likes of Broken Heel, Frida Las Vegas, Honcho, and Hung AF for a night like no other on February 29th. Plus make sure to head upstairs to post an #AbsoluteLoveLetter in the post box on the top floor.

Donation Class at Hustle Boxing 

Start off your Mardi Gras Parade Day with a bang at Potts Point’s new fitness studio, Hustle Boxing. From 10:45am the crew at Hustle will raising the tempo with a last-minute pump session for the LGBT+ community. This 50-minute class is by donation, will all proceeds going towards the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Find out more here.

Poof Doof @ ivy

Ready to boogie this Mardi Gras? To celebrate the final weekend of Mardi Gras, ivy and ivy Pool Club are teaming up with POOF DOOF for two epic events. Head along on Friday February 28th from 10pm to 4:30am for the Big Gay Pool Party at ivy Pool Club, for a night of techno beats get reveler grooving into the early hours of the morning. Plus, dance the biggest queer night of the year away on Saturday, February 29th at the Mardi Gras Parade After Party (running from 10pm-4:30am).

Yummy Unleashed 

For three nights only, iconic Melbourne performers Valerie Hex, Hannie Helsden, Jandruze, Zelia Rose, and Benjamin Hancock unite as an outrageous and joyful queer cabaret for Yummy Unleashed. Prepare to experience this award-winning production and cabaret performance, coming to the Seymour Centre for the fire time ever with a wild display set to get audiences cheering.

Hot Brown Honey

Catch this award-winning production at Sydney Mardi Gras, guaranteed to make you clap, cry, laugh and boogie your way down the aisles. Expect an unapologetically fierce show set to shatter stereotypes using colour, culture and a dash of controversy.

Visit Scott Marsh’s Absolut Love Mural

Off the back of his 2019 YES vote mural, artist Scott Marsh returns with another Absolut Love mural celebrating the stories of love and celebrating the LGBTIQ+ community. Head to 214 Oxford Street in Paddington (across from the Paddo RSL) to see the mural for yourself.

Mardi Gras Parade

The 42nd Annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade is so close you can almost see the glitter. Tens of thousands of fabulous participants will be strutting, singing and dancing in the streets for one spectacular night of entertainment. Bars along Oxford Street and Flinders Street will be selling seats at a premium price to get you right next to the action, in the spirit of the festival and provide the cocktails. Plus, this year pop superstar Sam Smith will be performing as a special guest at the official Mardi Gras Party alongside Dua Lipa, Pabllo Vittar and Kesha.
