Summer is looking hot and festive with a free family-friendly celebration at South Eveleigh.
The historic Locomotive Workshops site at South Eveleigh is about to transform into a vibrant hub of holiday cheer with the arrival of the much-anticipated Summer Express. Running from Tuesday, November 21, to Saturday, December 23, this unique advent-style calendar promises a daily dose of free, family-friendly festivities.
As you enter through Redfern Station, be prepared for a visual treat with a dazzling tunnel installation featuring intricate patterns and vibrant colours. Climb aboard the trackless train for a whimsical journey through the Summer Express Stage, Play Town, Locomotive Street, and the Village Green, turning the precinct into a maze of activity.
Summer Express Highlights:
1. Summer Express Stage: The beating heart of the celebration, Innovation Plaza’s Summer Express Stage will host a lively lineup of entertainment, including DJ sets, Breko’s Music Bingo, and live performances by artists like Mary Heart, Declan Kelly, and Old Skool Funk.
2. Play Town Game Area: Elevate the fun factor at Innovation Plaza’s Play Town, a designated zone with games like hoops, ping pong, ring toss, cornhole, and chess. Engage in the Game On competition or enjoy free play for endless entertainment.
3. Village Green Relaxation: Weekdays at the Village Green offer a serene space to unwind, with opportunities for Delta Therapy dog cuddles and musical performances by local talents, including Victor Valdes, Cope Street Parade, and Blanche.
4. Family-Friendly Saturdays: Saturdays bring a mix of family-friendly activities, including Santa visits, live music, face painting, and captivating pop-up performances featuring magicians, hula-hoopers on roller skates, and more.
