With a glass of wine in one hand and a paintbrush in the other, pretty soon you’ll be tapping into your artistic ability and believing you should have been an artist!
The paint and sip concept has been embraced worldwide and today, Pinot & Picasso have 74 studios throughout Australia and New Zealand. Classes run every day of the week with daytime or evening slots to choose from. Artistic ability is not required since there are classes for beginners through to those more confident with a brush.
Each studio offers a range of paintings to choose from including landscapes, sunsets, furry friends and the chance to recreate classics like Van Gogh’s Starry Night. And new artworks are added every month.
All the paint gear (easel, paint brushes, paints and canvas) is supplied, and at the end of the session you get to take home your masterpiece. The Host (a local artist) guides the class through their creations, step-by-step. Follow along with the teacher or veer off course and express your imagination by turning the sky purple and the trees white. Blame it on the wine or creative license but by the end of the class my inner Picasso had been unleashed and my painting did not resemble the original painting.
Uncorking your creativity is fun! In-between instructions, the Host will blast popular tunes and you can paint and sing or zone out and concentrate on your artwork.
The beverage is BYO; glassware is provided. What you sip is your choice but wine is encouraged. That said, zero-free beverage options are also welcomed. Painting has long been recognised as a mental release and relaxing way to unwind.
Sessions run for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. The classes are great for group activities, date nights or even for solo artists.
Wine googles may cloud your self-diagnosis but regardless you’ll have a lot of fun working on your masterpiece.
