From being visited by Taylor Swift, to serving up Italian goodness, the all-star team behind Pellegrino 2000 is opening Neptune’s Grotto.
Attention foodies and fans of friendly Italian fare! The team behind the ever-popular Pellegrino 2000 and the lively Clam Bar is back, this time taking us on a delicious dive into the heart of Northern Italy.
Mark your calendars for May, because Neptune’s Grotto is set to open its doors in the Sydney CBD. Tucked away beneath the familiar buzz of Clam Bar, this subterranean haven finds itself in amongst the realm of some of Sydney’s most exciting food zones, including Quay Quarter and Sydney Place.
Think of Neptune’s Grotto as a celebration of Northern Italian comfort food, a love letter to slow-cooked sauces and house-made pasta that sings. Diners can delight themselves in delicate tortellini, their pockets bursting with savoury fillings, bathed in rich, slow-cooked sauces fusing together textures and flavours that will transport you straight to a charming trattoria in the Italian countryside.
Fans of the legendary Pellegrino 2000 can rest assured. Chef-owners Dan Pepperell and Mikey Clift are known for their playful twists on classics, and Neptune’s Grotto promises no exception. Expect their signature touch to add a touch of modern flair to the experience, all while staying true to the heart and soul of Northern Italian fare.
Complementing the fancy pasta menu will be a thoughtfully curated wine list, overseen by the group’s resident vino whiz, Andy Tyson. Think regional Italian varietals that seamlessly pair with the menu, adding an extra layer of depth to every bite.
While the name might conjure images of a casual pasta joint, Neptune’s Grotto promises a touch more than that. Think comfortable and stylish, where the focus is on savouring the company of loved ones over a relaxed and satisfying meal.
Neptune’s Grotto will open in May 2024 on the corner of Young and Bridge Street, Sydney (entry via Loftus Lane). Stay tuned at eatdrinkplay.com for more details soon.
