When gelato and sandwiches combine, you’re in for a crazy mouthful!
Get ready for a culinary rendezvous that’s set to make your taste buds dance with delight! Melbourne’s beloved Hugo’s Deli is bringing its mouthwatering sandwiches to Sydney for a special pop-up collaboration with the iconic Messina, Sydney’s gelato wizards. Happening this weekend on November 17th and 18th at Messina’s Marrickville HQ, this foodie affair is a chance for Sydneysiders to savour Hugo’s signature creations without booking a flight to Melbourne.
Imagine sinking your teeth into the ‘You’ve Got Muffin To Lose’ – an English muffin filled with pork and fennel sausage, fried egg, American cheese, ’nduja butter, breakfast sauce, and shichimi. Or perhaps you’ll fancy the ‘Fried Chicken Sando’ with Shokupan (Japanese milk bread), fried chicken, shredded lettuce, pickles, American cheese, and Hugo’s sauce. And let’s not forget the ‘Steak Frites,’ a rare treat featuring charred porterhouse steak, Café de Paris butter, Hugo’s steak sauce, fried capers, frites, and comté cheese.
But the culinary adventure doesn’t stop there. Messina adds its magic touch with the ‘Triple Whammy Messinabon’ – a delightful concoction of Milo gelato, Messinatella and hazelnut praline, nestled between Oreo biscuits and dipped in a Rocher glaze. Wash it all down with a selection of fun and fruity cocktails and tinnies from the pop-up bar.
The Messina Eats x Hugo’s Deli collaboration isn’t just about food; it’s an experience. The Marrickville HQ carpark transforms into a casual gathering spot from noon until late, providing the perfect backdrop for friends and families to come together, enjoy delectable bites, and create delightful memories. It’s a blend of Melbourne’s sandwich sophistication and Sydney’s gelato genius, creating a fusion of flavours that promises to be simply sensational.
The Messina Eats: Hugo’s Deli pop-up will run from midday until late, Friday 17th November and Saturday 18th November.
