The MCA’s Free Rooftop Party Series is Back This Summer

Cool Sh*t, Play, Sydney / 7 November 2018

Sounds of the Terrace returns to the MCA’s epic rooftop in partnership with Young Henrys.

Nothing says summer like live Aussie music, a cold beer and a stunning harbour side view from The Rocks. Sounds of the Terrace is returning to the Museum of Contemporary in December, teaming up with beer lords Young Henrys.

Every summer since 2012, Sounds of the Terrace has reimagined the MCA’s Sculpture Terrace as part of the gallery’s Lights on Later showcase. The monthly event unites free live music with drinks and nibbles. This year the MCA has once again partnered with Young Henrys brewers to give Sounds of the Terrace a distinctly Inner West edge.

Young Henry's Sounds of the Terrace

Young Henrys owners Richard Adamson and Oscar McMahon’s passion for supporting local music is well-known. So much so that the team have even called the stereo one of the most important pieces of their brewing equipment. Since opening their Newtown brewery in 2012, Young Henrys have hosted a range of gigs promoting everyone from You Am I to the Sydney Symphony.

This summer, Sounds of the Terrace will pair Young Henrys local brews with emerging local musical talent. While enjoying a mid-week beverage from the selection of Young Henrys classics including the Newtowner Aussie pale ale, Natural Lager and Summer Hop Ale, two dynamic performers will take to the stage. Make sure you pencil 5th December into the diary, with NOT A BOYS NAME and Fiction Writer fronting the stage to provide plenty of musical talent.

NOT A BOYS NAME will provide indie-rock vibes, fronted by Sydney songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dave Jenkins Jr. As for Fiction Writer, you can expect plenty of indie-rock dance tunes to keep you bopping into the night.
