Lunas will see the dynamic couple behind Sweet Belem Cake Boutique and Fich Petersham, put Portuguese cuisine in the spotlight.
Jose and Basia Silva (Silva’s Hospitality) are expanding their Petersham reign with an all-new contemporary Portuguese-inspired breakfast and lunch offering now open on Stanmore Road. With Chef Jacqueline Ektoros on board, joining the team fresh from a stint at Redfern’s Three Williams, the menu will showcase familiar flavours reimagined with a traditional Portuguese twist.
One familiar flavour on our must-try list is the renowned Portuguese egg tart (pastel de Nata) that Sydneysiders travel to Sweet Belem for. Lunas hotcake edition of the iconic signature dish has already got guests in a scramble, using bread from a recipe from Jose’s mother – itself brought over from Portugal and baked at Sweet Belem.
For lunch, elevated Portuguese fare designed to share is the menus showcase. Sydney editions of authentically Portuguese dishes include; beef espetadas – beef skewers, with molho verde and bay leaf; sardines on toast served with molho verde, broas, coriander and puffed rice; plus competition for Petersham’s best Portuguese chicken comes in the form of Lunas signature chicken sandwich, served with delicious cabbage slaw, pickled onion and Jose’s own piri piri mayo.
Luna’s organic aesthetic of the main dining room is the perfect backdrop for a shared feast with friends and family, plus keep your eyes peeled for a new outdoor dining area and herb station slated to open in the coming months, just in time for lunch under Sydney’s summer sun.
Lunas Petersham is open every Wednesday to Sunday for breakfast and brunch from 7am-3pm with plans for dinner to be announced soon. Follow Lunas on instagram for all the latest.
