For the first time in two decades, Sydney’s go-to amusement park is for sale. With the best views in town, this prime real estate won’t be going cheap, with an expected sale price of $70+ million.
Since its opening in 1935, Luna Park has positioned itself as one of Sydney’s biggest attractions. Owned by Canadian assets manager Brookfield, CBRE will be marketing the sale from Sydney. “Luna Park is more than just an amusement park. It is the beating heart of Sydney with an impressive track record of long-running events including Halloscream, New Year’s Eve and collaborations with key city-wide festivals such as Sydney Festival, Vivid and Lunar New Year,” says CBRE’s Simon Rooney, leading the sale alongside James Douglas and Paul Ryan.
Just 4 years ago, in 2020, the park underwent a massive $40 million renovation, which introduced 9 new rides and fresh experiences. The heritage-listed park must remain an entertainment precinct, limiting the development potential of the land. The sale is expected to bring a range of new food and drink stalls, giving Sydneysiders and visitors more of a reason to visit.
The park boasts 17 rides, the heritage-listed Coney Island, and 7000sqm of floorspace including Sydney’s Immersive Big Top (a 3,000-capacity entertainment space). All this, plus unbeatable views of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks, the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Luna Park is expected to operate as normal during the sale process, so you can still get your fun fix just a ferry ride from Sydney’s CBD in the meantime.
