Gastronomy Spring Menu Lunch

Eat, Sydney / 24 October 2013

Yesterday Ms Darlinghurst and I were  invited to a Spring lunch prepared by event catering company, Gastronomy.  This special lunch was prepared to showcase their new menu and delight our taste buds with fresh seasonal flavours. Most of the events we attend are in restaurants, bars or other public venues but this afternoon we arrived at someones beautiful home in Rosebery. We were greeted by the wonderful team at Liquid Ideas who made us feel right at home. We took a seat at the long table in the centre of the main room with other guests. It was decorated with a beautiful arrangement of flowers and fresh fruit to suit the spring theme.
Whilst hot and windy outside, we soon cooled down with Peach Bellini’s and settled in for lunch.
Here is what we had:
Fresh Figs and Prosciutto
Salad of Cured Scallops, Seaweed and Shiso
Black Tiger Prawns in Miso and Sesame Seeds
Zucchini Flowers Stuffed with Marinated Pine Mushroom and Provolone
Salad of Roast Baby Beets with Shaved Fennel, Watermelon and Goats Curd.
Gastronomy use sustainable and local produce where possible. I’m not going to lie, my eyes were bigger than my belly and there was definitely some drooling going on. The stand out dish for me was the fresh figs and prosciutto.
The chit chat was flowing nicely and our wine glasses were never empty. Next to come was dessert and WOW I was blown away. This dish was as picturesque as it was tasteful and included a Strawberry and Violet Sorbet with Red Fruit Salad and Vanilla Gel.
Next came the petit fours: Peanut Butter Mousse and Milk Chocolate Lollipops, Sour Cherry Cake Domes with Cream Cheese Glaze and Brown Butter and Mandarin Financier.
Gastronomy really out did themselves and put on an amazing event. We left with little goodie bags filled with some special treats, a beautiful bouquet of flowers and of course full bellies.
