Joel Bennetts is bringing back the old school fish market to Bondi Beach.
If there’s one thing Sydneysiders love, it’s a place to get their post-beach feed. Luckily for Bondi locals, the team behind FISHBOWL, FISH SHOP and Side Room are launching a beachside fish market just in time for lockdown freedoms and summer sessions. FSH MKT will be pumping out takeaway right next door to their sister shop/restaurant, FISH SHOP. The venue is set to open later this month at Glenayr Avenue’s Sevenways precinct and we couldn’t be more excited!
As with everything The Fishbowl Group does, it all starts with fresh seafood. Perching up next to FISH SHOP means FSH MKT is guaranteed to offer a selection of local and sustainable seafood options. The menu is set to feature a range of drool-worthy fish burgers including Prawn Katsu and Flathead Zinger, grilled fish options including Ocean Trout, Snapper and Barramundi, as well as delicious fresh salads (would it really be a Fishbowl Group venue if they weren’t on the menu).
Since the menu is based around fresh seafood, The Fishbowl Group Executive Chef, Joel Bennetts has made it clear that the menu will be ever evolving with loads of flavour packed specials bringing the best catches of the day to the table (or to your picnic blanket).
Since picnics are all the rage, there will also be a BYOP (build your own picnic) option where you can select from freshly shucked oysters, prawns, housemade taramasalata and more to fuel your park feed. For those that love the Fishbowl Group’s classic condiments including tartar sauce, ketchup, fermented chili, chilli jam and house cured/smoked fish, you’ll be able to stock up on those at the counter by the jar or gram.
FSH MKT was originally slated to be part of the FISH SHOP’s offering so it’s convenient that it’s now located next door. Since the neighbourhood went crazy for the new offering with huge waitlists, they soon realised there needed to be another venue dedicated solely to takeaway. After 6 months of planning, testing and tasting, they’re now gearing up to serve the locals.
Sydney is set for an exciting summer of new openings and you can add FSH MKT to the list. If you’re a die-hard FISHBOWL fan, you can expect new stores to pop up around Sydney over the next 12 months. The Fishbowl Group have planned 13 new openings between brands FISHBOWL FSHMRKT and Side Room.
