Meet Bondi’s new beach-side plant-based eatery and cocktail bar

Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 8 November 2019

Eden Bondi is on a mission to help Sydneysiders embrace the best of plant-based dining.

We all know the benefits of packing our plate with fruit and veggies. But sometimes it can feel like the only way to get our daily dose of greens is to sip endless kale smoothies and chow down on leafy salads. If you’re looking for some inspiration to help boost your plant intake, this new eatery is here to motivate everyone to add a bit more colour to their diet every day.

Say hello to Eden Bondi, the new plant-based eatery that has just landed on the shores on Bondi Beach. For co-owners and locals Simon Hill and Tanya Smart, the venue has been a passion project to give health-conscious diners a destination to come together and celebrate the best of plant-based dining. This pair is no stranger to the benefits of healthy eating, with Simon sharing his knowledge of plant-based eating across social media and on his podcast, Plant Proof while Tanya is responsible for the Conscious Feast, a plant-based fast food outlet.

“There has never been a more crucial time to follow a plant-focused or plant-exclusive diet,” tells Simon. “Eden isn’t about labels or telling people how to eat. It’s an inclusive and encouraging place for the Bondi and broader Sydney community to enjoy creative and flavorful plant-based food with friends and family.”

The space sits 80 diners, spread across the restaurant and courtyard garden, created by interiors designed Edward De Simone. The mood here is undeniably tropical, with light floors, oversized foliage and pops of colour throughout the interiors.

Eden Bondi Plant Based

Edens menu, curated by Head Chef Claudia Pantoja, pushes the boundaries of how diners expect plant-based cooking to look and taste. Expect smaller share plates such as Popcorn Cauliflower ($14) and Watermelon Poke bowls ($16) to larger plates like Mushroom Bolognese ($23) and Teriyaki Bento Bowls ($22) plus a selection of plant-packed pizzas. They’ve even got desserts covered, with a Giant Cookie Skillet ($15) and Spanish Doughnuts ($15) made to be shared.

To complete the experience, Eden is also serving up some seriously Instagram-worthy cocktails. Sip your way through the “Garden of Eden” (Organic hippocampus vodka, Green Chartreuse, lemon, mint, cucumber and myrtle soda) plus their “Bondi Sour” (Old Tom’s Gin, grapefruit juice, lemon juice, aquafaba, rosemary and grapefruit garnish).  In exciting news, Eden have just announced extended opening hours on Saturdays and Sundays for lunch from 11:30am to 3pm.

Find Eden Bondi at L106/180 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm to 10pm and for lunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am to 3pm. To find out more about this new restaurant, click here.
