Deck out at Deck Bar and Dining

Stepping into Deck Bar and Dining, located just metres away from Dee Why beach, is like returning to your holiday beach house after frolicking in the surf and sand. The two story bar stands prominently amongst The Strand, a boardwalk filled with cafes, restaurants and local takeaway joints.

Cocoon chairs hang from the ceiling, modern, edgy artworks (all by local artists) don the walls and there are cosy nooks throughout filled with people eating and drinking. All in front of one almighty view.
Deck Bar & Dining
The menu at Deck Bar is influenced by the Americas from tacos, to quesadillas to Philly cheese steak rolls. They’ve taken popular menu items and added some Deck Bar flare for good measure. For instances, a simple order of guacamole and corn chips comes served as an interactive entree. Served DIY style, you smash your own avocado with a mortar and pestle and season as you like, with salt, pepper, chopped tomato and half a lime on the side.

Sometimes, ordering a salad at a bar, when you are surrounded by burgers and fries, can make you feel like you’re missing out. But the prawn and chicken salad is a substantial summer pick. It’s packed with mango, shallots, papaya, carrot and shredded prawn and chicken and feels a whole lot healthier.

Continuing the fresh seafood theme, the tasting plate is the perfect accompaniment to the ocean views. It includes seared salmon, crispy fried prawns, salt and pepper squid and a giant serving of tartare on the side. Ask for some DIY smoked paprika & salt and pepper dipping sauce for a smoky addition to your well-cooked seafood selection.

We suggest trying the cocktails at Deck Bar, especially the margarita with coriander and chilli or the “Passionate Sailor” made with Sailor Jerry rum, orange and passionfruit. For something a little stronger try The Rye Smile, a delicious cross between an Old Fashioned and a Negroni. The lychee and cherry martini is another great drink made with Citron vodka, fresh lychee and cherry liqueur.
